Good to see the NRA stand up for its members on this issue. I hope whoever finally got them involved didn't have to buy Wayne too big of a boat.

Looks like the NRA has finally taken a little action on their own and has filed suit against the ATF and DOJ.  Jared over at Guns and Gadgets has a video up on YouTube with more detail.

My first thought seeing the post title - Wayne must be gunning for a raise ...

Appreciate the nice play on words.  And it is probably the only thing they have been gunning for in a while

Not sure about members, but they have some expensive legal bills to pay.  Plus, there's the matter of Wayne's suits, cars, boats, homes, vacations, etc., not to mention the additional overhead from things like graft, corruption and embezzlement - it adds up pretty fast ...

GOA, SAF,  FPC  and several other 2A organizations have already laid all the ground work. With the recent ruling on un-finished receivers, there's a good chance that this time the pistol brace rule will finally and forever be nullified. NRA is finally jumping in for the sole purpose of claiming the win even though they did almost nothing. Don't give them a holes too much credit. 💩

Good, but I was paying their bills when they weren't doing anything, so I feel like I've already given them money. No sense in signing back up.

I am a lifetime member but they will not see another dime from me until some major changes are made from the top down.  There are too many other great organizations that need support.

Me too.  Especially not as long as Wayne LaPierre is there.

Remember it ain't just LaPierre. The board of directors is packed with his hand picked cronies. What we need is a clean sweep. But it ain't likely to happen as long as this bunch runs things. 🤬

True.  I remember what happened the last time.  https://www.reuters.com/world/us/nra-board-directors-re-elects-wayne-lapierre-executive-vice-president-2022-05-30/

and the time before that https://apnews.com/article/d5d90ab1596f478c8f20d4dbe3f73979

Im not sure how any real change can be effected as long as the current crew is running things.  I get my ballots from them, but theyre geared towards the people they want it seems.

I spoke with the TN State lobbyist Kelby Senor yesterday afternoon.  NRA has had no communication with Haile about legislation and is not sponsoring or writing any for or with him. Kelby said the usual "NRA" would be willing to look at legislation proposed to see if it meets Constitutional muster, but at this time none has been proffered.

He did say he had met with Haile in North Carolina at the Leadership Institute last week, and that Haile had suggested that he had options to some mental health proposals, but offered no plan, no specifics.

Haile is casting about to try and gain some conservative bona fides as he has a challenger in the upcoming primary that appears well funded and of a conservative nature. The challenger is tied to the Sumner County Conservative Republicans, who have taken over the County Commission there, rooting out our old friend Debra Maggart's supported moderates from the majority.   In all my years of working with the General Assembly, Haile has never championed a 2nd Amendment issue or even cosponsored one to my knowledge.  He is a McNally sycophant of the First Order.

I received an email from these folks a day or so ago, wanting money, as usual . I replied back, stating that as long as LaPierre and his cronies are running the show, there'll be no more money from me.

The top has grown waaay too bloated. I'm done.

Life Members are still here. I think actual new, supportive membership has dwindled to the point that even the top executives saw that it was now a "sh*t or get off the pot" situation as far as continued viable life for the NRA.
