Interesting. I hadn't heard of this one. Looks like it's ever so slightly larger than the Kel Tec PF9.

So, how long before Ruger, S&W, or one of the other bigger names makes a teeny little 9mm that is reasonably affordable?

No, I haven't seen one in person.

Personally, after reading all the recent horror stories regarding the customer service (or lack therof) at Taurus, I doubt I could force myself to buy one.

See, now you have me nervous. I have a Taurus .357 that I bought back in the 90's. It's served me well, but has now developed a minor problem and now I wonder what will happen if I send it back. The only other time I've had to call them was for a replacement screw (the one that holds the cylinder yoke in place) and they sent me one free within a week.

I've seen it on their website and have requested a catalog. They also have two pdf download catalogs for 2009, one with all of the new stuff and one with their full line. They have some really NICE looking guns for 2009. I'm alrady writing up my Christmas list.

I've seen it in the catalog. I've seen some mentions on other lists that hardly anyone can find one in person to hold or look at. I know it's really new. I've been searching sites online, and this is all I came up with at the moment:

TheGunSource: TAURUS 709 SLIM 9MM 7RD 3" STS POLY

So far, the reviewers that have shot them have positive things to say. I was thinking about this as maybe my carry down the line, if the reviews stay good.

If they had a nicer trigger pull on the DAO guns I would really like them. I like the size of the subcompact .45. How much smaller is the slim 9?

You were lucky, ive been trying to get a grip screw, for my PT 92 for 3 months.Top left grip screw is slim and in a bushing, the other 3 are fatter and NO bushings, yep, thats right...I call the Taurus place in FLa.every month to ask about my screws, and when I get someone to finially to awnser the phone in the parts deparment, its allways a different woman, with a accent,I cant hardly understand, telling me that they are still on back order, she says there sitting in a warehouse in Brazil, waiting to be shipped to the U.S.A.sometime in april.been hearing this about everything ive called and tryed to order this year...im not knocking Taurus,im just scared,I have 2 PT 1911s also, but at least, the grip screws are the same size on them.

Kahr PM9 seems to be smaller. And you don't have to deal with Taurus.

Nope. You just have to cough up $750ish instead of the $350-$400 the Taurus is likely to retail for.
