Looking for a bolt gun in 308. Local shop has like new Savage 11 and another shop has like new T3. Both guns are about ten years old, but look almost new. Prices are similar.

Anyone have a Tikka? Not sure which to get.

I have a Savage and love it! Now they ain't cute and cuddly like those foreign made rifles, but they get the job done. 😄

I got both. Will take to the range to see which one I like best. The other can be a Christmas gift to my son.

I have a nice Tikka in 308. Although it’s a fantastic gun, here is something to consider that you won’t read about much.

I bought the tikka upgrading from an old rem700 in .270. Once I switched I found that I am a horrible shot with a lightweight gun. I think I got used to the heavy old gun and how steady it was. My heartbeat didn’t move it around. Anyways… food for thought.

Depends on costs.

They are both good choices in my humble opinion.

They both will serve you well as long as you take care of them.

Took both to the range. They are more accurate than I am. Recoil was strong with both. The Savage stock fits me better. Looks like I need a few more range trips to decide.

Replaced the stock on the Tikka and put limbsaver pads on both. Tested both with several types of ammo. Tikka is slightly more accurate and much smoother to operate. Plan to keep the Tikka. Found some low recoil 125gr ammo which is easy on the shoulder.

I’ve been shooting a Model 11 for years and out of the box it will shoot or outshoot anything out there for accuracy. The Tikka has a much smoother action than the Savage though. Either would be a good choice.
