My younger sister called me Fred Sanford because I was always trading something, guns, boats, cars, etc. She took Fred and spelled it backwards to call me Derf instead. She has called me this for 30+ years now.

In college, the guys liked to watch the same movies over and over.....and over.  One of the movies in rotation was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.  I walked into the house one day after class while it was on and Shortround was on the screen.  Somebody turned around and said something to the effect of "look you're on tv" and they all got a laugh.  Being college guys, the name stuck.

I spent two fantastic weeks in the Bahamas living on a 35’ boat with friends and then sailed it over to Hilton Head.  The boat’s name was Garufa and the crossing was an adventure.

Back in the day of dial up internet, my email address was randomly chosen. Alleycat72 was it. I'm know by Devil in some places. 207883 in 2 places. Peter in other places. I've got a buddy that goes by Spook. Always thought that was cool as S÷$&. He has a crazy history.

My hair went gray in my mid 30s. Its a family trait. 🙄

When my son's were young, I spent 12 years as a Boy Scout Leader. During that time I took an advanced Scoutmaster training course called Wood Badge where I was assigned to the Fox Patrol. It took my fellow scouters all of about 30 seconds to dub me "The Gray Fox". The nickname just sorta stuck. 😉

kv=my initials, mx=internal abbreviation we used for Michelin, and 00= the year I started.   I would used this as a purchase order number for any order I placed for a customer, so they knew it was from me.

A girlfriend I dated long ago always said I was "tough as whitleather". Never heard that expression before then. I misheard it as Tuffus Whitleather. So she started calling me Tuffus.

Picked up Links while playing golf with friends.  Added the 2k as the year 2000 approached.  The only links style course I’ve ever played was River Bend in Mississippi.

I like Chuck Taylors. Don’t wear them much anymore because old man feet don’t like shoes with zero support, but I got one pair I still break out occasionally. When I first joined I actually used Chuck Taylor, but then I discovered there was a fairly well known firearms trainer by that name so I changed it.

I've been a collector of memorabilia on General George S. Patton, Jr.  He was a great general and a flawed genius.  Lucky Forward was always the code name for his command post closest to battle.

My initials and wife's initials are JP, so x2, and I had a HD RK at the time and the license plate for it was jpx2rk.

During my law enforcement career I spent many years on the tactical team as entry team lead, primary counter sniper, Field Commander and the last 5 years as Team Commander.  Along the way I was tagged by others as Tacops.  I am old now and the name doesn't truly fit.  I have thought of developing a new more appropriate handle but not sure how to do it so that folks know it is me and not just another newbie to the board.
