Brazil is counting firearms

Recommended Posts

Seems the new pres POS is wanting to unravel his predecessor's pro-gun policies. All firearm owners MUST register each of their firearms with the police. The former pres Bolsonaro ran on
"an armed populace will never be enslaved," according to The Associated Press.

I pulled info from different MSM news sites, do a search and get more info if you like. As a firearm owner and a true 2nd believer I know where this is going, next step in Brazil is ask in the people to turn in some of the firearms they own. Then all the firearms will be taken from the people, and it will be down hill on a rocket sled and the rocket has fired.

The police can legally shoot you in the back if you run in Brazil.

Technically, US police can too. The Fleeing Felon laws were never repealed - as far as I know. I was warned by my chief not to use it back in the late 80's, but he said at the time it was concern over civil suits.

I got news for ya. They can hear too. I know one who did and never suffered any repercussions, unless you count he could never get elected Sheriff.

Bolsonaro was trying to introduce freedom to a nation that's pretty much been a dictatorship for most of its  existence. He was also considered a U.S. puppet. Odds are the election was rigged to get him out. it seems that the people are fine with going back to the old ways. Nothing we can do about it anyway. 🙄

Not to this level. They will empty machineguns in to an unarmed guy. Collateral damage be damned.

True, but collateral alive is better than collateral dead.

For a rom-com, that movie was hilarious!

FWIW, I don't know what's driving the current outrage - but Brazil has had stringent gun control for at least the last couple of decades.

All guns have to be registered.  Minimum age to purchase is 25.  There are fees for registration (part of Bolsonaro's executive order reduced that fee some) and there is a limit on the amount of ammunition you could buy - something like 50 rounds/year.  I think Bolsonaro's order lifted that somewhat too.

Brazilians basically have no codified rights to self defense.

Just zooming out on the timeline some.

That is correct. However, the initial registration years ago was with the military. Now the registration is with federal police, they have to go to police station to register their firearms.
