Forum Background Changed...

I'm trying to optimize the forum for fast loading on web browsers regardless of how fast or slow a person's Internet connection is. One of the things I am experimenting with right now is removing the forum background "picture" that had a textured dark earth look and replacing it with just a dark earth color.

Believe it or not, these little changes make a pretty big difference on some web browsers and connections.

I'm not sure I am going to keep it like this or if I will switch back to the textured version.

Just noticed the difference, then saw this post! I couldn't put my finger on it at first.

appears to be a little faster on loading the page.

Might be physiological.

It helped on my ipod, and I'm sure it'll help on other portable devices.

Yeah, I had a member ask about it for that very reason so I've been trying to optimize it.

PS: Anyone who is still seeing the remnant of the graphic at the top of the page beneath the logo should do a hard refresh of the page (shift + refresh on Firefox and MSIE) to clear their browser cache.

Anything to speed it up helps. Yeah, living in the boonies has one drawback and that is slow internet.:) But I guess that is off set by being able to shoot on your own property.:);):)

David what is the size of the pic that you were using for the background before? was it a larger image or a smaller image that repeated?

I knew something was different but couldn't figure it out...thought my glassed were just dirty...looks fine to me and is much faster on my phone.

Smaller that repeated. I've been doing this stuff for quite a while now. :hat:

Just curious, I actually liked the image but, I know how it goes with slow internet.

It's not so much the size of the file itself as it is rendering on mobile devices.

Is that a Mark Twain quote?
