Asked a buddy of mine from the area and he said that it’s just a “nothing, nowhere town. Nothing bad happens, but nothing good either.”

It's probably a stretch to refer to Springville as a "town".  I's more like a general area instead ...

I grew up there. Nice people and close to Kentucky Lake. You could see the lake from the house I lived in and I could walk down to fish and swim.

Thank you for all the feedback. Looks like it’s about 15 minutes to Paris, which apparently is the closest place to receive real mention on a map.  Blows my mind that Paris is a county seat and yet has only slightly over 10,000 for population.

I am used to much more populated areas, but I want to get away from populated areas. The rub is I still like my conveniences close.  I’m already learning that I may have difficulty finding trades people as may be needed for repairs or renovations.

Rural living is definitely different from urban or suburban living. Most folks prefer what they grew up with. Perhaps you could rent a place on VRBO and get a feel for the place for a week or two. Paris is a nice little town, with an emphasis on little. Murray, Kentucky is a bit larger and not too far away.
