Simichrome Polish. Made in Germany. I believe I got mine from Brownells. Put some on a soft cloth and lots of elbow grease. It does wonders. I put it on a toothbrush and use it to remove powder residue off the cylinder face of stainless revolvers.

Do not use any cleaner that removes lead. Underneath the nickel is a layer of zinc and lead removers will dissolve zinc. This is why you see nickel guns with flakes of nickel coming off. Use semi chrome or I use Flitz.

I myself have used never dull extensively on nickel plated restoration items with great luck, but full disclosure only once on a firearm- an antique Colt.  It did go well for me but your mileage may vary. I didn’t know that about the zinc layer in nickel guns, thanks derf!

If you can't find it locally, let me know. I'll loan you my tube to do your gun and you can bring it back after you are finished.

Flitz is a mild abrasive. I wouldn't use that unless you have to remove slight marks. Mothers is good too.
