Fobus paddle holster?

Just file the edges down a little, problem solved ;)

No, he's actually very correct. Fobus holsters are second only to "Mexican Carry" and afford absolutely no retention. I had a friend wear my old Fobus Glock 23 holster a few years ago and then demonstrated just how horrible they are by grabbing it and ripping the holster away from the paddle with ZERO effort.

If a bad guy were to do that, you'd be left with a piece of crap paddle attachment sliding down the inside of your pants leg and he'd have your gun.

BIGGGG thumbs down for Fobus.

Well,I dont know about the rest, but my Roto is a good holster. As much beating Ive done to this thing hopping in and out of cars, falling on my ass,etc....its held strong.Mine also has a retention screw, not sure if all do though

As far as them being ripped away,Ive seen that video, but really! Who is going to come up behind you and do that?I'm not a cop,I'm not going into combat with the thing.

I own several holsters.Everything from Galco,to Blackhawk, but at the end of the day the two holsters I use is my Roto (XD),and Blackhawk infinity(Sig)-the two cheapest ones.

But then again, maybe I'm just not tacticool enough :)

Edit,Forgot to say that if you were truly ninja, you wouldn't have bad guys coming up behind you! 224_animated_ninja_disappearing.gif

That's the key right there. I used one for years. And although I have a Serpa now which I like much better I'm still not throwing the Fobus away.:drama:

I've seen the "famous" video as well. I don't open carry. I really can't see that as being the norm. Plus I'm always surprised the guy didn't feed the other guy his elbow.

For the money and what it is designed to do I think it is fine. You pretty much get what you pay for. Works great for a range holster, etc.

As far as retention... I've had mine for years. It is an older one. I can still holster my Hk, turn it upside down and give it a shake and it won't fall out. If I shake it really hard... yeah... it will fall out. (I personally think Fobus gets looked down on from people.)

Get a new holster.

Seriously.

Fobus is junk.

The man speaks the truth. $500 dollar firearm in a $20 holster.....hmmmm......If its something you carry everyday, Fobus would not be a good idea.

Agreed. Parking your $500 handgun in a $20 Fobus holster is like parking your Ferrari next to a shopping cart corral. Just because you can, it doesn't mean you should.

I can agree with that, however whats an average decent holster cost? 30-60 bucks?

Like I said,I only have experience with the Rotos, and can vouch for them after all the abuse Ive put mine through.Maybe the regular ones are cheaper made,or can break off easy, but I can guarantee you that Ive had all of my weight of 200 lbs on mine without incident a few times

Blade-Tech, G-Code, Comp-Tac and several others make Kydex holsters that are either readily available or available within short periods of time. Most in that price range. Often I hear people complain that they can't or don't want to spend $100 on a holster for their gun. That just dumbfounds me.

I realize that times are tight but even the most budget strapped person can save their pennies and afford a good holster. There's no way I'd carry mine in a Fobus or one of those little closed-cell foam and nylon rigs that you see at swap markets.

Some things just shouldn't be compromised on.

Most of my handguns are range guns, or nightstand guns. I don't really worry about holstering them other than to keep hands free when shooting something else at the range. For that purpose, I have a couple fobus because they were cheap, and serve the purpose of keeping my hands free for a time.

That said......I turn to my blade-tech when I want something solid.

I agree on that! Although I do have, and use a nylon quite often, but I only use it in the car to clip on the back of the passenger seat though.Dont think Id ever suggest one as a carry rig.

Id love to have a comp-tac,etc but IWBs will not work for me.

the other nice holsters all have the same problem for me,and thats not enough cant adjustment. My Roto will allow me to change the cant on the fly so I can reposition my XD as it gets in my way of getting in/out of the car and whatnot without removing screws.

My Blackhawk Infinity which is more expensive(still not 100 bucks though) will only allow cant adjustment after a screw removal, and velcro but since the Sig isn't as big,it isn't a huge problem.

As soon as a better named holster manufacture makes a holster with a complete, and total cant adjustment I will change, but for now these two holsters work very well, and I would recommend them.

With me it was "parking" a $600 Hk in in a Fobus. Yes it does sound silly.

But everyone's circumstances are different.

A good friend also pointed out to me at work that I kept a pistol that costs more than my car... IN MY CAR! LOL!! (Then I drove a beater and sold it two years later for $250 running.)

To be honest, I used teh fobus mainly in the closet, on the range and while driving. When I got out I mexican carried.

I carry a fobus and really don't fret over it. I know some feel like they are junk but really I dont understand. someone can snap it apart, well ok but if you carry a leather concealment holster than it is likely that they will pull it strait out of the holster. if nothing else they have alittle more time required to get the gun out of the sheath after they get it off of you.

It's not likely that some one would be able to just pull the pistol straight out of a leather holster. I have a holster that has no retention snapnonit. Open top. You would have to pull up towards my armpit while I clamp down with my elbow.

There is no comparison between a quality leather holster and a fobus.

I don't believe anyone is saying that a Fobus Holster is better than a leather one, or a Serpa for that matter.

Only that for $20-30 bucks it does exactly what it is designed for. (IMHO)

Seems like if you decide a Fobus fits your personal needs you get a little heat from people on here. Some is good natured ribbing... others are a little more pointed at times.

I don't mean to be the one to bust everyone's tactical bubble, but the guy asked how to fix his holster that he likes, not a 2 page thread on how much his holster sucks and his decision making skills are questionable.

Calm down folks. I think he'll live to fight another day.

Thank You Creeky!

Thank You punisher

That's What I'm Talking about!

Surely Ya'll Don't think That's My Only holster. It's My range & Quicky Go Out to Eat Holster. I've had Other Fobus Never Any Problems. But My Question Regretably Was Problem I was Having W/ This One. As far As A $500.00 Gun In A $20.00 Holster, I have a $1100.00 Gun In a $10.00 Case. The Gun Dosen't Know The Difference. Not To be ugly, But i Never Meant To Start A holster Flame. My BAD!!!!!!:)

Thanks For Your help Strickj

FOBUS holsters are generally bottom of the barrel when it comes to production holsters. You could sand the edges, but you'd be better off buying a quality holster. Good luck either way.

My Fobus works fine for me when pulling range duty...if the edges are rubbing you the wrong way, a few minutes with a file or Dremel and some sandpaper should do the trick.
