Lightning strike

Had a lightning strike that hit so close it shook my whole house. I looked outside a few minutes after it to see if it hit one of the big trees around the house. I didn't see anything that stood out but I found out this morning that it struck a power pole beside the house that my former cable company used to use before we went to WiFi on everything in the house. The guy that installed all the WiFi in the house forgot to disconnect my TV in my living room and even though it was not turned on it fried the TV. When I tried to turn it on this morning it would not work. I got to checking it and found that he left the cable lead attached to  it even though we don't have cable any longer. The TV in the bedroom has a cable line hanging about it but it was not attached so that TV still works. I guess I will get a new one for the living room this weekend.

Sorry to hear about that, but glad it wasn't worse. I still won't take a shower when there's thunder/lightning scares the bejeezus out of me.

Doug,

As my grandmother used to say, if it weren’t for Shiite luck we’d have no luck at all (Irish). When it rains it pours

I have I believe a 40” lcd that’s been sitting in the closet since Black Friday. Fully functional, I’m  not much of a TV watcher but she wanted to upgraded and we got a good deal on Black Friday using AMEX points. Off the top of my head I think it’s the picture quality  that’s above 720.

Not sure if the size is what you want for you’re living room.

PM me/email and I’ll respond in the AM. You were more than kind to respond to my multiple emails with questions about the bersa my friends dad had that didn’t have a magazine. If we could make it work I’d be more than happy to clean some closet space and drop off somewhere not too far from Gordonsville.

Scotty

A few years back I was sitting on my front porch. It was getting ready to rain and the sky was very threatening. I was reading my Bible. All of a sudden, I felt a very warm sensation, and just as I felt the warmth a lightning bolt hit the transformer, on the pole, about 40' from where I was sitting. The hair raised on my body and I could feel static electricity all over my body. The clap of thunder jarred the whole house almost instantly. I have witnessed 125 MM and 175 MM howitzers fired and the thunder and percussion were as loud as they were. I actually seen my flesh, on my arms, indent as the tremendous shock wave pressure changed around me.

Needless to say, I picked myself up, and went into the house. I don't watch any storms approach outside anymore.

Edited to add; glad you were not hurt "Bersaguy."

When I was younger and dumber (hard as that last part is for some to believe) I used to love sitting on the balcony of my apartment and watching thunderstorms. I've found better hobbies since too.

Thanks for the offer Scotty but my son in law is picking me up a new one tonight. He will have to program it into our WiFi when he installs it.
