Deal or no deal???

I made the plunge in to the 1911 world last week. A Springfield Armory 1911A1 mil-spec for $600. Before the purchase I checked around on Buds and gunbroker for a fair price, and it appeared $600 was good, not sure after researching further. What do you think, deal or no deal?

Gun is good shape, at least 95%.

Two years old, one owner, less that 50 rounds through it, claimed it was a safe queen. Came with case, two mags, two sets of grips, 30 rounds of .45, gun holster, a two mag holster, and the bore brush, the typical kit when purchased new.

Looking around gunbroker for mil-specs...looks like you got a better deal than on there.

I haven't seen many of the SA G.I.'s or MilSpec's around anywhere in several months, but I think $600 is a fair price. Where are you seeing them cheaper?

Most of what I have seen is NIB for around $650 - $700 for stainless. There doesnt seem to be many out there for sale for comparison, especially used. Seems like the demand for this gun is very low or either those that have them, want to keep them.

Either way, it was amazing to shut. Ive put about 30 rounds through it so far and plan to expend many more as the weather warms.

You did good!! It's a keeper too. A little trigger work, a beavertail safety, tightened bushing and a no-snag rear sight, you will have a lifetime companion. I'd love to go stainless but my old SA "Painless" has held my heart for over 20 years. Hope you like yours as well!!

What's the magic number hanging off of the trigger guard on her?

Thats a sharp looking pistol. I'm not big on stainless.......but I would have seriously considered that one at that price had I saw it sitting in front of me.

725 if I remember correctly.

Nah... That's a terrible deal.

Tell you what, I'll sacrifice myself and give you $600 for it right now to keep you from feeling so bad about getting ripped off.
