So, I wrote a letter to Rep. Todd

The funniest thing about this whole exchange, is if a thug were to try and take out any one of you, I'd be there to back you up.. It's nothing personal.. I'm just tired of the fact that every day our government represents us on this issue less & less..

I'll agree to tone it down when people stop talking to me like I have no idea what I'm talking about, & like I don't have a right to dissent on a forum that is supposed to be about Politics.. Politics are always heated. All ribbing aside, I would hope we're all adults here. So I expect an adult answer to my questions.

Here's the most important ones:

Why should we as gun owners/shooters in Tennessee advocate a law that leaves some of our citizens defenseless after 11 pm? Are we a nation that only thinks about those of us who won't be there that late? Is that the America we've become?

With fellow citizens like that, who needs Ted Kennedy to run you off the road?

I'll agree, we should not have a law like that. I think it is crazy. That is the exact reason I wrote my letter to Rep. Todd as well as the one to Rep. Kelsey. but, evidently, yes, we are becoming that America and it scares the Piss out of me.

With you there too. The problem is that for some strange reason, people are listening to him...reminds me of a bumpersticker that I saw the other day "Sen. kennedy has killed more people than my gun has".... true on a couple of fronts, of course there is the obvious, but his view and votes on gun control is getting Americans killed every day.

It is the people that want to start fights and can't let go of a chip on their shoulders that makes people question the sanity of gun owners.

I just wanted to point out that what you said here is hard evidence of how gun owners have cowered into the corner of political correctness..

So like if someone gets in a heated argument over muscle cars on some forum somewhere, nobody questions their sanity.. Hmmm ok.. I see.. I mean they are only driving a 4,000 pound automobile around right? What could go wrong?

Gun owners can't have a spirited or even heated argument without someone jumping to the conclusion that they are going to go on a shooting spree to vent their anger?

Its time to fight back against these perceptions my fellow 2nd amendment advocate, not promote them by suggesting that anything I've said makes me "crazy".

I mean I have an armed security certificate & a carry permit.. That's like six back ground checks at various levels of government, & two sets of fingerprints that were run through several crime databases, & that doesn't include the security clearance I needed for my other job.

BTW, I haven't been in a fist fight since I was 20, & that was to protect my wife from a drunk..

I will agree that it should not be that way, but that is how the left wing fringe thinks. If they had a problem with cars (and give it time, they will) they would be pointing fingers at drivers, but that is something that most of them couldn't live without. They have a problem with guns, so to them, guns are the only things that kill people...of course that is proven wrong time and time again, but they are blinded by their rage against guns. That is why we, as gun owners and shooters, have to be careful of what we say. We don't have to back down on our fight for our rights, on the contrary, we have to stand firm, more firmly than we have in the past, but we do need to beware of how we say what we say because they WILL use it against us to take those rights away. They have done it in the past, and they will do it again. All I am saying is that in our debates with each other, we need to watch our tempers and our words.

oh, and I DO question the sanity of anyone who can get into a heated discussion on a car...I like muscle cars, but not enough to EVER get into a fight over one...well, unless you bash the General Lee:)

PS archer, I know you aren't a fascist.. I don't think anyone here intends to come across that way either.. I just fear that we're being lulled to sleep, & being trained to feed on the crumbs that politicians brush off the table, & that we're beginning to accept it..

I'm sorry if I get mad & pull out word sword sometimes, but I have a real & legitimate fear that we're headed for real turmoil in this country. I don't even recognize the place I grew up in anymore..

I am bitterly angry over that, I'll admit that, but still in defensive mode... I hope I never have to point my gun at anything but paper targets..

I have made about 5 new people gun owners in the last year, by pointing out the subtleties of the financial & political landscape, & what they are potentially telling us. It's REALLY bad, & worse than a lot of people know, because they are going on with their own daily lives..

Our country is NOT collapse proof, & if we don't get laws into place that unequivocally protect our 2nd amendment rights, we are in big trouble.

Posse Comitatus Act lifted.. Why?? Something is on the horizon, & its not good..

Point taken, & seriously taken.. Oh & confirmed by my personal belief system:

James 3:26 If someone thinks he is religious yet does not bridle his tongue, and so deceives his heart, his religion is futile.

You came across as a brother, & that always helps.. You're a good man.

I agree, and they have chosen a really committed leader to do that-- O crap! (that's my name for him...anyone is welcome to use it, I have not copyrighted it yet!:screwy:) I am going to bed. I will check back tomorrow. Hopefully we can get past this name calling that has been going on and work toward working together on fighting this issue. Have a good night.

PS, My favorite thing to ask anti gunners is "if they get the power to take away our 2nd ammendment rights, what is next? Freedom of religion? Freedom of Speech, The right to Privacy? Oh, maybe slavery, or gay rights (of course i might jump on the "Ban" wagon for that one), or maybe the right to think! What rights are You willing to take from me to keep the right that you want?" Makes them think. Have a good night.

I am and I believe in accountability. Reproof is something that is hard to do properly. Do it with a Haughty spirit, you make enemies, do it with a loving attitude and you can have fellowship afterwards.

Whew...ok....I take a break for a little while...and wow...lol

Just a reminder to everyone, including me, personal attacks are not allowed.

But looks like things have about worked themselves out...so that is good and I am willing to leave it at that.

Difference of opinons and debates are good.

So....let's not start anything back with any finger pointing or last shots...lol

hopefully we have successfully quelled this whole situation and we can go back to having a serious adult conversation. I am interested to see how the vote goes today. I am really hoping that it does not get tabled again.

Y'all will have to post the results here...I've got to where I just can't stand to watch the children up there in Nashville argue anymore....lol

I'm guessing that since the session doesn't start till 4 there is a lot of "campaigning" going on right now...so hopefully the votes will already be lined up ahead of time. Not to say there still won't be a lot of debate.

do they cover that on TV? My wife gets really naggy if I am on the computer for more than about 5 minutes. The only reason I can be on here this long now is that she is at work, and I was on here last night so late b/c she was in bed. It will be easier if they put it on TV

oh well, I guess I will have to either sit and listen to nagging or catch up on here. probably the latter b/c nagging gives me a headache

Same here! :)

Aww. I didn't even get to respond to the underage girlfriend comment. :( Oh well I like my avatar :D

:) What they dont know, wont hurt us :koolaid:

MB, 2226_yawning.gif if you'd like to debate this, look back through the thread. You,Fal,and myself have debated this(among other things),and have even spelled it out for all to see.I'm not going to continue with whats been said.

We all agree here that the 11pm is not necessary, but is needed to get this passed,so no reason to argue with anybody else here on tat either!

Oh,and like I stated in my last comment in this thread,DO NOT call me (or anyone else) names. Its not only against the rules, but it also impedes your credibility on debates, and people will then focus of that instead of your "reasoning"
