Obama fired R Wagner CEO of General Motors today. Message the new America, We loan yopu money via a bailout we do as we damn please.

This is pure Socialism when the president Can oust the CEO of a corporation.

Doe the Board of directors not have say so. Why were the bank presidents not canned by the great O.

Is there any doubt that there is clearly a double standard here.

The president of GM should not have been fired, and instead the president of the UAW should have been fired. If you fire the president of GM by default the president of UAW should walk away with him. Of course that will never happen since most politicians owe the UAW waaaaaay too much for the support and money they recieve.

Detroit needs to do only two things:

-Build cars people love & want to drive/buy

-Remove the UAW

Everything else will fall into place.

Senator Stabenow (MI), as well as Obama, thinks that Detroit needs to create jobs first before focusing on building cars. This is more bass-ackward liberal think from the people who brought you the generational theft act that our grandchildren will be struggling to repay many years from now, and if Detroit goes the same way as banks receiving bailout funds, we will never recoup our losses.

As cliched as this may sound, it is not any more complicated than that for the Big 3 and Detroit to revive themselves.

The cars are good already. Overpriced due to union influence and the big three not managing correctly but good reliable vehicles. I have a Mercury Tracer that we bought new in 95 that is still running like a champ. I had to replace the clutch at 150K miles but it's now at 184K and I drive it daily.

The pricing problem appears to be about ready to fix itself. At least inflation and costs will catch up and there is no way the Unions or automakers will raise prices on wages or vehicles at this point in time. Some concessions from the union will have to be made or they will be out.

The bottom line is those of you who are thinking about buying foreign, and there are a few threads running around here, please think about keeping your dollars here. You will be supporting a lot of industry right here in Tennessee and Kentucky. I know, my drivers pick the parts up for GM and Chrysler daily. My company is also involved with Ford and let me tell you, Ford has higher quality standards than Nissan does now! All of them want to build reliable vehicles. Now we need to support our own.

Don't give into the hype that Nissan and Toyota are a better vehicle. Just not so anymore.

My concern is what gives King OBama the legal right to fire a private citizen from a private co. that has a board of directors. To my way of thinking he has put himself above the law and above the US Constitution that he swore an oath to protect. Once again in my view he has broken his presidential oath and is guilty of treason.

Obama/our government didn't buy GM,nor did they fire the CEO.If they dont want to fire him,they dont have to,but they wont receive any money.

They are however demanding that before anymore bailout money is given,the failing companies(Gm,and Chrysler,and probably anybody else from forth) must change their game plan so the money isn't lost.Isn't that a good thing?

I dunno,maybe I missed something this time around,but I must say that it appears we're just looking for reasons to complain here.

One minute its about the bailout,then its complaining about restrictions before its given.

Nothings going to stop the bailouts here,but atleast their putting on tougher restrictions to ensure the money will not be lost.

I'm not asking about yall calling it socialism here,just dont understand the complaining on the restrictions so the money is not lost....again

I believe economically this all smacks of socialism but the way O has operated, and the general lack of media questioning since the inauguration has followed a fascist model (minus the nationalist fervor). All we need is a group of children and 'public service workers' wearing distinctive uniforms taking to the streets for our fearless leader. (isn't that in the works?)

Any business that goes to the government for a bailout will lose my business. So, that's it for AIG (previously cancelled), Citi (final payment next month), GM, and Chrysler.

GM's, Fords, and CPD's have all quit on me in the cold, waiting for a tow. My Toyota's have always gotten me home.

The main (and should be 'only') purpose of the U.S. Government is: 1. to provide for the common defense, and 2. for infrastructure projects (i.e. roads, police, fire, rescue, hospital).

That's it.

Otherwise, 'government' needs to stay out of our face.

Look at it as basic psychology. Think about how many people aged 18-30 still live at home. They have Mom and Dad to take care of them and direct them. They will happily live in less than optimal conditions because someone else is "really" in charge.

The Government has become Mom and Dad. There is no personal responsibility for anyone anymore. I am 24 years old and married. We have 2 cars, a motorcycle, a nice apartment in a nice part of town, and still have money to save and have fun with. I wanted to be independent and I made myself achieve that.

I worked my ass off to get where I am and am not even a college grad. I even have a GED! *gasp* I work 2 jobs for a total of about 55-60 hours a week, but I do it gladly because I don't want anyone to take care of me.

Now it's nice to have safety nets. Unemployment and welfare can be good things, but they have become wheelchairs not safety nets.

That, IMO, is what is wrong. People lack personal initiative and responsibility. It's easier to let someone else take care of you, simple as that.

Kegger, I don't think those kids even know what they are doing. This world looks very screwed up to us because we learned otherwise, but they grew up in it and seem completely indoctrinated. I have two teenage sons that I began homeschooling two years ago mainly because of the "conditioning" they were receiving in the public school system. (I could write volumes on that matter) Our political and financial leaders do not want patriotic, independent thinkers who posess strong convictions or anymore. They/we are a threat to the socialist agenda.

My advice, try to educate the poor little buggers; they have been misled by institutionalized propaganda that runs deep and surrounds every aspect of their life.
