HB 1233 - Illegal to store firearms or ammunition in a vehcile or boat if not locked away

So, obviously its complete and utter BS that you would get punished for someone breaking into your property... that's absurd.

However.. I did hear the news report that something like 167 firearms were stolen from cars in Nashville in January. ONE FLIPPIN MONTH!

So while I don't agree with it IN THE SLIGHTEST, I do kinda see WHY they would create a bill like this. Maybe assuming that the law abiding folks will do as they are told and, by proxy,  not arm the criminal goon squad.

However again... that's like making a woman wear a burka because, she might accidentally tempt a man.

So we're back at "screw this bill".

Why?  They cut the cable and stole the entire lockbox rather than taking the time to pry it open at the vehicle.

Note to self: I do have a lockbox in the car.  It's a good idea to take a picture of it cabled in place to prove it's existence should the car ever get broken into and a firearm stolen.

DOH! Wish I'd thought of that...way smarter than all the hassle
