I have a drawer full of yard sale cast iron. I haven't gotten lucky yet. They've all turned out to be unfit to cook on LOL.

Nice find, maker on the back?

Can't remember precisely, but not a collector's brand.   In all my thrift store adventures I haven't come across a Wagner or anything valuable like that.

It passed the fried egg test spectacularly yesterday I'm happy to report.

No, just really bad metal, too rough and porous to get a layer of seasoning on them. For the price, it's not worth the hours of sanding.

My wife has her grandfather's seasoned 10 1/2" Wagner #8 cast iron skillet. Makes wonderful cornbread.  In fact, she is making some tonight to go with white bean chicken chili.
