Pepper spray recommendations

Andrew Branca recommends carrying a non-lethal option like pepper spray. I know he and John Corrriea from ASP recommend Pom pepper spray. Does anyone on here carry that or suggest another brand? Preferably something that will fit in the pocket. Thanks.

We carry Pom. We have Keychain quick release on all keys and also pocket clip styles. Never had to use it so can't say how effective. My brother was in law enforcement and had to have training with it. He said we didn't want to try it out. Lol

John Correia with ASP jokes that Pom stands for "Plenty of misery". I guess it can only be ordered online? I couldn't find any local retailers that carry it. I may check with GT Distributors to see if they carry it or something comparable.

Amazon has it in single, 3 packs, and 6 packs.

I personally don’t carry pepper spray but I have had a close encounter with Kimber pepperblaster.  Long story short, at a UT football game a kid found the pepperblaster on the ground and thought it was a toy and discharged it while we were waiting in line.  Since so many people were standing together it took down about 5 or so.  They were all miserable and couldn’t see.  If I was going to carry pepper spray that would be it.

Early on Branca carried Sabre Red.  Small, convenient and has multiple spray capability.  I have canisters available at front door, autos, at work, and usually in pocket.   According to stats, 5x more likely to need it rather than firearm… plus generally not a felony and mistakes easily rectified. Handy when walking dogs.  From personal experience, works well on one bear I used it on.

We carry the Sabre gel.  Never had to use it but I have sprayed my aged out tube in the back yard and they worked as expected.

I keep reading about some people seemingly able to power through being pepper sprayed, but I dont understand that.  As part of a qualification with it once I had some applied to my cheeks and i was completely incapacitated!

i would be very leery of carrying a product that resembles a gun.

I read recently that some states are frowning on citizens carrying or using pepper spray. Any of you guys read anything on this?

I had some years back, but it aged out, and I never replaced it. I had the clip canisters and they performed as advertised when I relieved the can of its contents. Shot about 15 feet a straight stream.
