Good ar-10 stock

Finally said #### it and ordered an ar-10. Now, I plan on changing out the grip and stock, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what stock to get. Will any ar15 stock work on it? I'm no looking to spend a ton of money, just trying to get acquainted  with the platform. 

 

EDIT: Found a nice magpul stock at a great price for this rifle.

I have a love hate relationship with ar stocks. I can't tell you how many times I've had my beard pulled out in the middle of the night.

I went with a magpul fixed stock and am now rethinking it. Might spring for another acs-l stock.

There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. The most important question to answer is, what's your mission profile/use case? What do you want the rifle to do for you? What barrel do you have on there?

• Hunting Rifle
• Battle Rifle
• DMR
• Benchrest Precision
• Tactical SPR

Each of these roles (or your own special case) dictate different stock and grip attributes. Nobody can give you a meaningful answer to your question without knowing what it is for.

IT heavy but I love the original Magpul UBR stock. I have one currently on my AR10

I settled on a Magpul STR. Trying to balance weight (12.3 oz) and cheekweld.

Started with a CTR (8.8 oz) and also tried a gen 1 UBR (~23 oz).

I'm using a B5 SOPMOD which seems to work pretty well.

As mentioned above, it really depends on the intended use. For AR10s that I shoot from a bench or prone w/bipod I’ve really been liking the Magpul PRS Lite. For most everything else I like the LMT or B5 SOPMOD.

I second a love for the b5 systems.

I'm mainly a bench rest plinker with long arms.

I strongly recommend Magpul PRS or PRS light if you have long arms and are concerned about good scope acquisition

I am a fan of the LMT SOPMOD and the B5 systems SOPMOD enhanced if you want adjustable. I liked the magpul PRS when I had it and would recommend it for a foxed stock. I haven't messed with the light version but it looks good and seems to get good reviews.
