That’s stupid. It should be focused on abolishing the NFA, not the ATF.  Get rid of the ATF and we are still bound by the National Firearms Act.

Just saw a YouTube video that mentions one (probably of many) legal trap in the new rule: 

IF your background check takes longer than 88 days you will be automatically denied.  With upto 40 million new background checks to do, many will not be done in 88 days or less.  So therefore it seems like many of these applications will be automatically denied.  As soon as your form is denied, you are instantly in possession of a NFA item with no approved stamp and therefore are a felon.

Taking the brace off and getting rid of it fixes that.

You don't have to get rid of it. They stated the brace itself is unregulated.

Giving the stock to a friend that has a SBR stamp or someone who doesn't have a firearm that the stock will fit on is a method SBR guys have used for years.

A solution, yes. But most that I know of, have these braces on items with barrel lengths of less than 16".

INSANE! Owning is ok? Just can't mount it? Sounds like the old auto-knife days when they could be sold; it just wasn't legal to carry them.

In the FAQ section questions  16 and 17 state that the ATF does not regulate a brace itself.

They sell 16" ar 15 barrels everywhere. I'm fine with everyone violating, but if someone is worried change out the barrel. You could also pin and weld the original barrel. You can always change it back when it gets overturned.

This is just typical NRA fear mongering.  Fine print is important.
it’s not 88 days from the time you send the form or even from the day they open the envelope.  It’s 88 days from the day they start the background check.  I don’t have the numbers but that’s very very few denials.  They aren’t going to open the flood gates on day one and hold all the background checks just to deny someone.  They have much easier ways of dealing with us than that.
