I don;t think so. It makes the others sound like toys. Of course it makes you want one. Except for the whole "dislocated shoulders" deal, adn if it was legal, I would love to get one.

So I;ve been told.

And by legal, I meant because of my age *points to age on side of post*

I want all three. I just don't think I can get the wife to go for more than one.

That is so true! I had my back blow out the day after a range session with a 91/30. My chiropractor loves that gun!

 That is awesome. Some of the guys at work and myself got a good laugh out of that. Out of the group we have one AK, handful of ARs, and one Moisin(with myself and one other guy talking about getting one).

I have a feeling that there is a Mosin in my future...

...and perhaps a Romak PSL later on, as well... for ammo commonality.

I don't miss my ARs.

Well I have an AK and I'm building an AR, and well mosins are cheap enough that I might as well run out and buy one to cover all bases.

$60-100 for a still in the cosmoline, often times arsenal refinished Mosin in whichever of the three popular flavors strikes your fancy is cheap. I really should go buy a 91/30 one of these days if I can find one that's mostly decomso'd.

I have a 1948 M-44 and it is the loudest gun I have ever shot. It is an absolute hoot to shoot.:( Ammo is still pretty cheap if you do not mind shooting 50 year old cartridges, which I do not mind.

Matter of fact, anyone coming to the Meet and Shoot tomorrow in Kingsport will have the chance to shoot it!:)

I actually enjoyed shooting your M44 mike!

its cheap, accurate and if you ever have to defend from enemies coming in waves, you can always shoot 5 waves back (the muzzle blast and accompanying muzzle flash is guaranteed to pulverize and cook the first 4 rows..if the 5th one makes it to your position, you need only stick them with that really REALLY long bayonet.)

Well (he said, cheesily resurrecting an old thread) I bought a couple yesterday. 79.99, or 10 bucks off that price if you buy two, so of course I bought two. Two is enough, right? Arsenal refinished (they look brand new) M44's, with pouch, cleaning kit and sling.

Bought some Prvi Partizan 7.62x54R to boot - reloadable brass cartridges, 15 to the box, 3.75 a box in quantity. I only bought 20 boxes, does anyone think I should go ahead and pick up a case (80 boxes)?

This is sooooo funny!!! I have an M-44 and love it. Was at Montgonery county shooting complex last week-end and put 19 rounds through it and the dislocated shoulder comment is almost true.

Awesome, maybe you shoulda asked if you buy a case of ammo will they throw in the gun? But seriously at that price I'd probably pick up a case of it now.

Dotsun, a case (80 boxes, 15 rds/box, 1200rds total) is 299.95

Is it a 'real deal', and secondly, who's gonna shoot the thing that much?

That's cheap compared to .223 in the TGO classifieds section.

Someone post some links to the refinished Mosin's please. I still like the bruised shoulder look after a range trip. Don't feel satisfied otherwise!

I think the recoil is really over rated. If you properly hold the rifle to your shoulder it is very managable.

Mark is the ammo corrosive? I am not sure how long it would take to shoot 1200 rounds of it. When I got my M44 last spring I ended up buying about 800 rounds and I think I still have half of that at least. But I have not shot the rifle in a few months now. Might have to change that at the next shoot.

I paid a little more than the 80 dollar price but all my numbers match and the rifle was clean of cosmoline. It also appeared to be unfired. I thought it was worth the extra dough anyway.

I will be purchasing my first commie bloc weapon in my life thanks to you guys here! Many thanks to the Rabbi for doing the leg work and ordering my up a Mosin and the first 100 rounds. I'll work it in with those, order up some brass ammo and reload for this one as well I guess.
