Dang.

Stair falls have taken a few of our beloved members over the years - at least one way too young.

Be careful out there.

My prayers are with those who loved him.

This was a post on the AK forum from a member named "DamascusKnifemaker":

"Ironhandjohn passed away today (Jan 1st, 2023) which was a real shock to me as I saw him yesterday at the gun show in Murfreesboro, TN. Apparently he fell down some steps at his apartment and suffered a fatal injury. I just now heard about it from a mutual friend. I know some folks here liked to bust his balls but I knew him in person and he was a really good guy. Rest in peace to him and prayers for his family."

Then his passing was separately confirmed by a co-worker of his @ Barrett (see attached from post on AR forum today.)

From what I've read, he was in his early 50s & of the Sioux Indian Nation. He seemed well respected on both the AR & AK forums. There is no funeral planned but his family will have a wake for him (date? time? Unknown...)

So much life ahead. Who thinks of stairs as a high risk activity?! Apparently he had bad knees & that was a longstanding problem for him. I don't know if that was a contributing factor or not. Sad to lose a member of our community. I'm reminded once again tomorrow isn't promised to any of us.

Godspeed ironhandjohn

I’m having trouble believing this. He just called me this past Tuesday. We’d usually catch lunch break together a time or two a week when he was through Cumberland City.
Is this the same John who drives a truck for XPO Logistics?

I’m sorry but I’m having trouble wrapping my head around this. Denial I guess.

This is unsatisfactory.  His friends and relatives have my sincere condolences.  😞

Based on the evidence provided, I've moved John's account to In Memoriam status.

Folks, I hate it when this happens, but it is supremely helpful to me when news of these events is shared here on TGO.  I'm able to do some minor clerical work and cancel any automatic renewal of Benefactor memberships so that those dealing with estates do not have to worry about a surprise charge against a bank account.

RIP, John.

Prayers for his family.

Stairs take a lot more people than you realize.  My brothers MIL fell down her stairs a month ago and passed away.

He was on the TGO yesterday as well.

Is his TGO username also IronHandJohn?  I’m trying to figure out who this is.

He wasn’t a heavy poster in general, but he was very active in the trading post. I am convinced that he read every single ad in the trading post. I think most of our reports of issues with ads originated with him. He was very helpful in keeping this place running smoothly. His presence will definitely missed.

Seen him Sat. walking in the building as I was leaving. Talked to him a couple months ago said his leg was bothering him and that he was hit by a car some years back and he almost lost it.  Nice guy RIP

The name doesn't ring a bell, but I hate that he's gone.

RIP
