Cross threaded barrel

How badly is it cross threaded? You might be able to use a fine file to get it to where you can thread a device on (if it is only the last couple of threads boogered up.

or do that then get a 1/2 x 28 (or whatever the thread size/pitch is) die and use it to clean them up.

I have read how to fix it with a dye but I have also read how it can make it worse If you do it wrong. Hoping for a professional to take it. It’s a 10mm Kriss Vector, so a replacement barrel isn’t cheap or easy to come by.
not sure how bad the damage is. It looks fine but I can’t get the original muzzle device to go past a half turn.

So it's cross threaded and fully seated? If so, probably easiest to cut the end off and re-thread.  I'd presume the threads are trashed.  Find a device long enough to meet the length requirement if needed.

You could try cutting into the side of the device, perpendicular to the threads (along the barrel axis) until you can just start to see the threads.  Then hit the slot with a cold chisel and see if it'll crack.  You might be able to rotate it off or get it off in pieces.

Half a turn on or half a turn off?  If you can’t get the device on, could it be that the barrel and device are not the same thread pitch?  It might look right but one might be metric and one standard.
