Permanent Resident Carry permit?

Howdy Ya'll. My wife is a permanent resident and is going to become a citizen here in the next two months. Can she get a carry permit now or should we wait until she becomes a citizen?

Permanent residents with a green card (which I understand she has since in the process of becoming a citizen....Congratulations) are allowed to get a Tennessee Carry permit. I would suggest the Tennessee Enhance Carry especially if you travel to other states.  https://www.tn.gov/safety/tnhp/handgun/eligibilityrequirements.html

If she'll get her citizenship in 2 months (congrats!), it's probably best to wait for that. The process to get one as a green card holder will likely take longer than 2 months.

The process for a green card holder is the same as a citizen. All the they care about is that you meet the eligibility requirements.  And yes I am talking from experience of a family member and some friends.

I have a friend with a green card as well and it took several months for his permit to show up.  Granted, that was quite a few years ago, but TICS has taken weeks for him.  Maybe it's faster now.

Thank you for the replies and information. It is of great help. She will get started with the lifetime permit process now. She loves this country and cannot wait to become a citizen.
