It’s as close as I’ll ever get to a smart watch.

This is my “I’m not at work” watch. My wife and son surprised me with it for my 50th birthday. Recently my son has turned me on to Music City Timepieces out of Hendersonville. Might need to start thinking about starting a collection.IMG_7002.thumb.jpeg.495dd3b1fe6440796d8dcb044b628280.jpeg

What Mista Garufa said...! I'm notorious hard on wrist watches, n just quit wearing em years ago.

I'm redeeming myself ( somewhat ...HEHEHE ) though.  Have bought an old Seiko RR Approved Quartz pocket watch to go in the bib of my overalls this winter... I've always loved pocket watches...

old times leroy...

OK...I confess. I haven't had a wristwatch on since the mid 80s. Maybe earlier than that.

Just never cared for any type of jewelry or watches. Last one I had was a Windham(?) that was asales competition gift from a cheap GM.

It's much more acceptable than a smartwatch.   Even with 6 billion scribbles on it.

Today is the GSD 3A Explorer on the GSD leather NATO.

Samsung Galaxy 5 Pro. About all I wear anymore. All my others are now neglected for convenience. Lol

I've been on the fence about a smart watch since they came out. I love tech and I'm sure I'd enjoy the convenience. I'm just so rough on watches that I'm afraid I'll tear it up. Does the screen scratch easily?

I'm an analog fan.   I have three digital watches, the super mario g-shock which is only because im a nerd, and two of my dad's old watches (one timex expedition and one casio) from the 90s.  I just prefer a good old fashioned analog.

I've not had any issues with scratches on the screen. This is my 3rd smartwatch and all still look new.

Im sure other's experiences may be different, but Ive had a series of Apple watch now, maybe 3-4 and now have the Apple Watch Ultra 2.  I have yet to scratch the screen on any of them, despite banging it on just about everything possible.  I use to have Timexes and Seikos and they all had scratches on the glass.

Today is my Sea Quartz 30. This one is made by Momentum, a follow on company from the long defunct Chronosport, makers of the original.

Sharp eyed fans would recognize it at the watch worn by Thomas Magnum in the first 3 seasons of Magnum P.I. Before he got his Rolex Pepsi GMT Master 16750 from his father in season 4. (Tom Selleck still wears that very Rolex  to this day.)

This thread reminds me of an old Jim Varney sketch where Ernest has a new watch that does everything. It's huge, has a TV screen, a satellite dish, a calculator, full calendar, etc.  . . . Then someone asks him what time it is. Ernest looks all over it for a few seconds, then says  something like "it doesn't do that."  😄

He was a character for sure.  Loved his milk commercials.

Harrods Edition Tudor Black Bay. Put my name down for one in May of 2022 when I was in London and they called me in Dec of 23 and said it was available for PU. My sister just so happened to be there at the same time and was luckily able to pick it up for me. When I got it I looked at the serial number and it’s a mixture of mine and my dads birthdays who passed away in December of 22.

Tonight is the Swatch & Omega Moonswatch.   The velcro band it comes with is entirely too short for my fat wrists so I have it on a 5 ring nato.

Decided to try out one of the assemble it yourself kits.  Went with the cheap grab bag (mystery) kit from DIY Watch Club.  I got a couple of cool upgrades over the standard Expedition kits in the form of a skeletonized movement and dial.  I love the gunmetal finish of everything.   Im not sold on the band but those are simple enough to swap out and I have plenty of options floating around the house to swap onto it.  And it's extremely small for someone my size.   But it is a good looking watch and I love putting stuff together so that was fun.  I'm definitely going to build another watch, likely a pam homage but since there is no kit for it, I'm going to have to do more research to get all of the right parts.

Samsung Smart Watch...don't really use it for the smart features other than counting steps...and I don't have a lot of steps today.

I’m rocking a simple, classic Seiko – nothing too flashy, but it does the job! I love the clean look, and it’s super reliable. I’ve been into watches that aren’t just stylish but also have a little history behind them. What about you? Do you go for a specific brand or type, or just whatever catches your eye?
