Savage 219L Rare?

My brother just did some trading for a little break action 30-30. It's a Savage 219L and seems simple enough, however, im not finding much info on it. 

Seems most of the other 219s had the old shotgun left/right break latch where this one has a lever on the right side of the receiver. 

Gather this is not a very commonly run across model?

They were only made a couple of years. No idea how many were made, but they were a different gun than the other 219s.
