Had an opportunity over spring break to clean and cook a chipmunk.

I just cut down the back along the spine to start pulling off the fur. Cut between the ribs and skin/fur as I pulled and once I got enough to grip just pulled the rest off. Then I cut off the head and cleaned out the guts with my fingers and put it on a stick to cook over the fire. After it was done, smeared a little tabasco sauce on it and breakfast.

It was an interesting experience and it didn't taste that bad.

I tried to make the picture smaller but photobucket isn't accepting it

Just a mini squirrel, shouldn't taste bad at all, squirrel is pretty good.

You should hook up with Mike357, he has an endless source of chipmunks apparently.

Ok I will need to know when this took place as we are checking the national season on chipmunks and believe you have made an illegal harvest. We will be in touch:death:

The last time I killed a chipmunk all I had left was the tail and two strips of skin on either side, shot it with a 12 more or less between my legs. I was going across some rocks and someone had just told me about all of the rattlesnakes they had seen there. Dust to Dust wasnt even close.
