SBR to Regular Length Upper

So I have an SBR, purchased as such with all appropriate paperwork through Franklin Gun club before they shut down, my question is, because the current regulations are very confusing and I'm hoping someone here can clarify: If I purchase an 18" completed upper and slap it on the current lower, would it be considered against regulations because the lower is registed as an SBR? Would I be required to carry my paperwork with me if I have the 18" upper on it and the the 9" nowhere in my current possession at the time? I would just to be safe, and because I'd probably have the shorter lower in the rifle case anyways.

It's perfectly acceptable for you to put the 18" on it. Take pictures of your forms and keep them in a file called nfa and you'll never worry about having your paperwork.
