Rock Island 1911 Sights?

I love these Rock Island 1911's. Picked up a full size and love the gun but it definitely needs better sights. Who makes some taller sights that could be installed at home and use the standard dovetail and front sight cut? I realize the front sight will have to be peened on. I am in Nashville but I know I will probably have to order them over the net.

Don't know if you know, but any standard 1911 sight will fit on a RIA.

I do know but I have to admit my ignorance on the subject. I have had Kimbers, Colts, SA's, Etc., of all type with some costing over a grand. In all this time, 29+ years, I have never messed with stock GI 1911 sights. So, what size dove tail? Which tenon size? I am sure I could call Midway or something but I just thought I would ask the local brain trust first.

Standard rear sights fit, but I don't think the fronts are so simple. A friend put aftermarket sights on his RIA, and had a hell of a time finding some. I'll get in touch with him and find out what they were.

Contact Brownells they will tell you which ones fit.Not all manufacters use the same dovetail cut on the rear sight.

The first 1911 i bought was a RIA 1911 one of my favorite guns i could not believe how good it shot .nether could my grand father ,he raised holy hell when he found out i bought a 1911 ,He all ways told me when he was in the army during WW2 that he picked one up on the battle field and could not hit any thing with it,After shooting mine ,His words i guess the one i picked up was so worn out you could shoot 2 bullets down the barrel at once.
