What to do about a busted scope?

I was headed out to the range yesterday and my scope was rattling. I took a look through it and the posts were all sideways / over-lapping / moving . I kind shook it a little to hear the rattle and looked back through it and now it looks like one of the glasses inside is chipped.

I think the manufacturer has a lifetime warranty. Does anyone know what is wrong with it or if this sound like something that should be covered under the warranty?

Send it back or just throw it away. If its a cheap scope it may or may not be worth your time to send it in for fixing, even if it does have a warranty. If it breaks so easy without you beating on it, its probably a crappy rig anyway and you might be better off without it. I'd probably shoot it and buy a better scope.

I have had good service out of couple of Leupolds and a Millet. I don't remember having to send any others back. One of the Leup's I broke and another was just out of spec. The Millet came on a used rifle.Millet replaced theirs without question and Leupold fixed theirs though I had to pay my part on the one I broke.

There are very few soap boxes I stand on, but one of them is Optics. You get what you pay for. This was true 25 years ago when I got the religion and it holds true today. The cheapest scope I ever bought was the worst scope I ever owned... I'll spend twice as much for the scope as I will for the rifle. I ahve seen too many great rifles with crappy scopes. I've never seen a crappy rifle with a great scope that wouldn't perform above expectations... and I own a couple of scopes... Just a few pictured here: (btw, the rifle in the foreground is a $350.00 walmart special with a $1,000 scope that shoots 1/4MOA)...
