Scope suggestions

Okay, so I got my new .223 CZ, now I need a good scope for it.

In the pic's it has a 3-9x50 Simmons, but I'm tired of cheap junk like that. I can't come up with the $$$ for something like a Schmidt and Bender or Swarovski, but this rifle does deserve something a little better than a Simmons! It can't be bigger that a 50mm, and it has to be a 1" tube, because I have to use the rings provided, they are unique to the CZ. Anyone got any suggestions for something that will work well with the .223? I haven't even shot this yet, and I'm going to wait until i get some optics befitting this rifle. I'm also planning to get the barrel threaded for a suppressor that Joe is going to be hooking me up with soon.:shake: This thing should be awesome suppressed.

thanks!

Bushnell Trophey. Will handle the recoil of a .223 and has great glass. Should run around $150ish, give or take.

In the mid-level scopes I've enjoyed great success with Leupold and Burris and have numbers of each in various models. On my .223 bolt gun I have a Burris Full Field and really enjoy it. I have one IOR which I equally enjoy and a Bushnell 3x9 on a .22 that accomplishes the job satisfactorily.

In the case of optics my experience has always held true that you get what you pay for.

What's the rifle gonna be used for? Let that be the deciding factor in what glass you get.

The rifle will be used for plinking, busting rocks and that sort of thing. I bought a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x50 last night. I think I will be happy with it.

Took it out to a buddy of mines place today. We set up @100 yards.

After a few rounds to find zero, I averaged 2.0 inch (5shot) groups, with a best for the day of just under 1.5. I think this is VERY impressive. One, I'm a sucky shot:shhh: Two, I was using Federal Eagle 55g FMJ, and three, it's a new gun that I'm not used to. I think once I get used to the gun, get the barrel broke in, and develop a handload that the gun likes, I can get it inside and inch. I hope so anyway, if I can it will be the most accurate rifle I have ever owned.

FYI for those who aren't experienced with the CZ, it's one of the coolest, smoothest, bolt actions I have ever used. To say I'm happy with it, just doesn't say enough. My poor old Ruger M77MkII .308 used to be my designated precision rifle. Sad to say, he's gonna be collecting a LOT of dust in the future.

Good choice, and very good shooting!

I use a Leupold 4.5-14x50 for my 300 Win Mag, but that was purchased back when I was hunting in some pretty open land.
