will be staying overnight in chattanooga...is the red roof near the airport pretty safe ?

I know it is near the mall...but I won't be going there...the only thing I will be doing while I am around the hotel is getting something to eat. I will only be staying there one night.

It's an older hotel, I stayed there back in 1987/88 when I worked some goofy shifts at Sequoyah Nuclear Plt. That place has really grown up big time with Hamilton Place mall. Going to have LOTS of traffic on the main road.

I've done a fair amount of traveling all up and down the east coast... I've never seen a Red Roof Inn in a good part of town.

tcampbell I live about five minutes from that Red Roof and it's plenty safe. The waffle house next door to it brings in the occasional weirdo but there is a Shoney's, O'Charley's, Applebee's, Cracker Barrel, Wendy's,Fazoli's, Glen and Gene Deli, All right across the street within walking distance. It's safe around there I wouldn't be scared to walk around unarmed.

Eat at the Sticky Fingers at Hamilton Place (in between mall parking lot and I-75)...you won't be disappointed if you get the dry rub. Almost as good as the best in Memphis.

There is one in a nice part of Franklin (Cool Springs area).

Also, the RRI in Chattanooga is in a decent part of town. Not the best and by far, not the worst. There are better areas within a few miles of the airport though, but you should still be perfectly safe.

Rude Ruff Inns are never a good place to stay.
