Enhanced CCW or Regular CCW

Not sure if this topic belongs in this section or the 2A section.  I'm new to Tennessee and looking for information.  I read and reread the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security web sight- - it's clear as mud!  What are the differences between the Enhanced Carry  and Concealed Carry Permit?  From what I've gathered so far; open carry and lifetime permit available for the Enhanced.  From what I gather both have reciprocity with 35-36 states.  I'm this has been covered previously.  If so, please point me to the correct post.  I've tried the "search" option but only found old post.  Any information will surely be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Invest in yourself....you are worth an 8 hr class to get the Enhanced (ECP) .  More information plus a range test which documents at least a minimum compentency.  The important part is a basic legal knowledge of permitted carry.  Not being charged with aggravated assault and staying out of jail for 10-20 yrs is pretty important.  Then take other classes as you can; it is not a 'one and done' process if you are serious about carrying a gun.

Thank you. I had a CCW in CA  where I had to take a 2 day class and a CCW holder.   I plan on getting the ECP but want to know the basic difference.

I don't know all the differences but the short of it is an ECP can do everything that a CCP can plus open carry and carry in a lot more places that are restricted for CCP holders. If any of the states that currently reciprocate with TN decide to tighten their rules CCP will get dropped first.

The enhanced ccw gives you the option to carry concealed or open. It also has the ability to carry in other states that have an agreement with TN. Like originally stated about 35 different states. TN maintains a map on the web site that clearly marks those states. The enhanced HCP can be accepted as a legal ID, and a great way to show proof of not being a criminal for private sales. I think that the classroom material is more thorough than the online material and there is a live fire requirement for the enhanced HCP.
