Indiana mall shooting

Well, considering an armed citizen shot and killed the suspect, most likely preventing further deaths,  it’s a win for the Second Amendment.

Yep.  I'm betting the odds are that MSM will drop this story like a hot rock.

It's in USA Today and Reuters and on TV it's on CBS and CNN, plus lots of local affiliates.  I think it helps that the media were quick to jump on early reports of "another mall shooting" and then had to follow up with the outcome.

ABC reported on it this morning and even showed a member of the local PD on the scene commenting about an armed citizen preventing further injuries and possible deaths. And he done so in a positive tone. But true to form ABC went right on to Uvalde and all the fustercluck that occurred there.

Sad thing is, simon malls has a no gun policy.  Maybe this will help them rethink that policy..probably not.

So, will the Good Samaritan end up being charged for illegal carrying ?  I hope not.

In his statement the Police Chief said that the citizen was "legally" carrying and called him a hero.   So I doubt he'll be charged with anything.

They haven't identified the citizen by name, but did say he is a 22 year old male.

According to handgunlaw.US, it's not against the law to carry past "no guns allowed" signs in Indiana.

My understanding of No Gun signs is that if found, they can only ask you to leave. If you don't, then you can be charged with trespassing.

Mall officials have publicly praised the "Good Samaritan".  Liberals are challenging the use of the term "Good Samaritan". MSN.com has no mention of the incident.  How telling.

TN law says you cannot be (criminally) charged with carrying past a sign if you've used your firearm legally. Laws vary in other states. I suspect this guy will end up in civil court.

At this point I'm convinced that there are some people who get pleasure from each mass shooting because their hated of firearms and the people who own them outweighs their regard for human life.

I went on Twitter to read the comments. Big mistake. They have gone so far as calling him a vigilante instead of a good Samaritan.

I agree with this portion of your statement, especially concerning the media. All of these mass shootings has pushed the twenty four coverage  of Ukraine to the back burner.

My opinion on the general public is that most anti gunners are simply afraid of guns. Despite the gun violence in the black community, most black people I know don’t own or want guns.

Its looking like the Police Chief isn't gonna let this hero go un-noticed.

"At a press conference on Monday afternoon, Greenwood Police Chief Jim Ison said Elisjsha Dicken, 22, of Seymour, Ind., was shopping with his girlfriend at the Greenwood Park Mall when shots rang out in the food court on Sunday just before 6 p.m. local time.

“His actions were nothing short of heroic,” Ison said. “Many more people would have died last night had an armed citizen not taken action within two minutes of the shooting.”
