Do you ever carry a back-up weapon?

I was just wondering, does anyone carry a back-up weapon? I carry a Ruger P345. It is a great weapon, plenty of power, thin, so it is easy to carry concealed. Sometimes I will carry my Ruger P95 as a back-up. It usually is in my glove box, but many times, especially if I feel uncomfortable in a place, I will carry the 9mm on the small of my back (I have to put it there because it is so wide and bulky that it becomes hard to hide. I was asked by a cop friend Why I carry a second weapon. I replied "Don't you?" He said, "good point!"

My idea of a back up gun rests behind the seat of my truck. My EDC's only purpose is to cover me long enough to get back to the truck. From there, I will run if at all possible, if not and I'm not dead yet, out comes something a little louder. This is all dependent on one of those off the wall, never gonna happen, mutant zombie thug gangster wars I find myself in the middle of:rolleyes:

In all seriousness, I don't go many places in the first place, and the places I do travel, I can't see where I will be trading lead enough to need a back up gun. Now if I had to go to town everyday and work amongst the sheeple like many of you, I'd certainly take a BUG more seriously.

Yes, Of Course.

I also have a spare tire in my vehicle.

Mechanical devices fail, and it could be at the worst possible time. Murphy is just waiting around the corner...:)

I train with my dominant and non-dominant hand. Events may restrict access to one side or the other. I may not even realize I'm in a fight until I've taken a round. Bad things happen, and not just on T.V.

I enjoy having options... I don't enjoy coming in 2nd place...

I carry a J-Frame or a 2nd Glock for my "BUG".

I'm thinking about getting a little pocket .380 as a back-up, or for when I can't carry my nomal compact.

I'm thinking maybe a MR Micro Eagle, I've had a great experience with their products.

That's how I see it. I have a lot of faith in my P345, but like you said, mechanical devices fail. I have never had a problem with either of them, but you just never know. To me, it doesn't have anything to do with having enough ammo, I always have a spare Mag, but if things go wrong, or for some reason it is taken, I don't feel like being the losing party, and I especially don't want to fall victim to my own weapon.

On duty a Walther PPS 40 to go along with my G22 or G23 (depends on what I'm doing that day)

Off duty I carry my PPS and my NAA 22 mag.

Shadow, I'll hold your hand if your that scared, to need so many BUGs. ;)
