Sorry about the omission in the OP.

This bill will be voted on in the Calendar and Rules Committee today 3/19/09. The meeting starts at 8:00 a.m. Nashville time.

Restaurant carry? Is it saying that you cannot carry in a bar? A bar is an age restricted establishment, correct?

Ben

There is no legal definition of "bar" in Tennessee. Age restricted establishments would still be off limits, but I see no evidence under proposed legislation that would ban you from sitting at your local neighborhood Longhorn or Chili's and eat at the "bar," as long as you are abstaining from alcohol.

So it appears 4pm is when this session gets kicked off. It appears there is 14 bills to be voted on, HB0962 is number 13...If I am looking at it correctly.

Fingers are crossed.

Does anyone know the latest on the bill created to end fingerprinting when you purchase a firearm? Or is this old news?

962 held on desk until study gets up there, they are being slowed.....damn it.

Well, HB0962 is held on desk for some reason that I missed so it didn't get voted on yet. Jimmy Neifeh showed his ass as usual and made a motion to move one of the other handgun bills (HB0082 - the judge carry bill) to thursday. He indicated that he (big surprise) is going to fight against "all of these gun bills" and that we "had better get read for some late nights with all of these gun bills on the calendar". That guy is like a nest of termites. completely useless and nearly impossible to get rid of.

No doubt. What a blowhard.

It sounds like a good thing that they have done a "study" on it, unless it is bad, then it will suck, but seems like before there was not enough data to move these to vote...who knows.

What does it mean "held on desk"?

I, assume, that it means they will come back to it, today, in unfinished business, when they get the study's up from where ever the hell they are. Wish they would get on with it, lets welcom all the mayors and be done with it.

Well the unfinished biz is done, they are on announcements now. So much for that idea. Why can't they just say what they are doing. IE "I'm holding the bill till 4/1/09 for the rest of the gun bills get here.
