Ok, I know there is nothing good ever from this site, but I was googling something totally unrelated and this came up:

http://www.bradycampaign.org/facts/research/?page=incident&menu=gvr

Look how many licensed drivers act irresponsibly. More people are killed by drunk "licensed" drivers than by ND or CCW holders who go nuts. And driving isn't even a right protected by the constitution!

No more google for tonight...

Something about lies and damned lies. For some reason "scores" of licensees having their permits revoked, where the number of actual licensees is in the hundreds of thousands just doesn't concern me.

Here is Brady and below is a study that was done of crime rates etc.

Furthermore, an April 2001 article in the Salt Lake Tribune, reported that "scores of Utahans are having their concealed-gun licenses revoked for criminal violations – including felonies and firearms offenses" since the state began running daily background checks on the state's concealed-weapons permit holders.[1] The daily background checks, which began in February 2000, crosscheck new criminal convictions and protective orders against the names of concealed-carry permit holders. Previously, such screening was only done every two years. In the first year of the daily checks, the state experienced a 241% increase in the number of revocations, with the single biggest reason for license revocations being the fact that the permit holder is wanted on an outstanding warrant.
The total number of conceal carry permits have increased exponentially since the year 1995. The numbers of revocations have never risen above 56 in any give year (See data in chart 10). The rate of revocations per 1,000 permit holders peaked in 1994 before the passage of the concealed carry legislation of 1995 (See data in chart 11). The most common reason for having a permit revoked is alcohol related and not related to misuse of a firearm (See data in chart 12). In spite of the increase number of permit holders, unintentional firearm injuries have continued to decrease since 1995 (See data in chart 13)

That's the funny part. Everything they write is true. But when you give only partial glimpses and take things out of context you can use truth to create whatever effect you want.

Besides "scores of permits revoked" sounds better than 60 permits revoked, even though it means the same thing.

This is not a strategy in the sole possession of the anti-gun crowd. Virtually every side on every issue in existence does this to one extent or another. Never underestimate the importance of context, but rarely does anyone read the WHOLE study, or even the whole news story reporting it.

the pro-gun crowd is usually on the defensive and therefore in the position to debunk arguments rather than make its own erroneous ones.

Just in my experience I find more howlers of logic and more misstatements of fact on the liberal side than on the conservative one. That doesnt mean the other side is immune, just that I see it less often.
