Very Nice S&W Model 642 snub revolver. I got this revolver from another forum member a while back. He said he bought it new,  and shot 20 rounds through it. The lock has been deactivated. The key still fits and works but it does not lock the gun. Buy an S&W at a Taurus price. $385. Pick up in Lenoir City.

Is that chrome with a matte finish? My teeny screen here makes the cylinder and barrel look kind of shiny while the body/frame appears very matte. I like the hammerless variety, but is it DAO? It’s a nice piece

They are double action only.  I believe the frames are aluminum for weight reduction and the barrels and cylinders are stainless steel.

Ok, gotcha. Thank you very much! You know, I was just thinking that it seems like they were at one time making those frames out of titanium or it maybe was scandium…something like that? Something lighter in weight, yet strong and corrosion resistant…haha which aluminum has in droves! You know, I could be talking about something completely different or I may have just dreamed it. I’m sorry for distracting from this wonderful firearm. I will monitor this with interest. Best of Luck sir and thanks again

You are thinking about the 342PD and that weighs in at 10.8oz.

Thank you for this! Also, my apologies for the tangential shift I caused in the topic. I have a real knack for this. My wife says I have undiagnosed ADHD, but, being born in the mid 1970’s, this simply cannot be the case, I remind her!

Congratulations to the buyer on the acquisition of a very nice, dependable piece…and to the seller (as well as all here) for keeping these firearms in the hands of their fellow Tennesseans. If TGO served this community in only this way, it would be more than enough to earn my love, but as we all know, it does so, so, SO much more! What a great place this is!

PS Yes, the adhd reference was yet another attempt at me trying to be funny. Trying being the operative word there.
