Hello guys and girls. I am visiting from GA and I have a Georgia Firearms License. In the great State of Georgia signs mean nothing, however I am reading the TN law and am I understanding correctly if there is a sign posted I cannot carry?? Can I carry in malls, shopping centers with no sign posted? I would appreciate any help you can give me. By the way I am visiting Memphis and will also be traveling to Southhaven, Olivebranch MS area.

To be binding, signs must "substantially conform" to certain standards, most don't.

Most malls are posted, in some form, at some entrances; generally those notices aren't "conforming". Hint: go into malls through the anchor stores rather than main entrances, and usually you can truly say you saw no signs.

TN doesn't make a big enforcement issue out this, however. If you carry well concealed, the odds of you having any probs anywhere are near astronomical.

You can't carry in place that sells booze for onsite consumption. Not even at a Red Lobster and such. Was just commenting earlier on another topic that I know of no case in which anyone has ever been charged with this, and looks like this may change soon.

Again, even though you may open carry in TN with permit, a well concealed approach will cause you zero probs.

Note that nothing I said above is to suggest that anyone break the statutes of the Tennessee Code Annotated.

You won't have any probs in Mississippi. Not sure if the malls are posted or not... never looked. Only thing in Mississippi is that you cannot carry in a church legally...which I think is a bunch of croc...I carry in my dad's church all of the time. It really depends on how much you know the members. His church is ok with it. they won't tell!

What OhShoot said. I don't go to malls for the most part, but I have never seen a no gun sign on the doors, even the main entrance, but I don't read signs. Carry concealed, be aware of your surroundings.

If you go to the FedEx forum, they will check you, even possibly put a wand on you. It is hit and miss. I was there last year, got nailed for my baby gerber knife in my front pocket. Went last week, I could have carried, but I wasn't, due to them serving alcohol and the law and all, I just barly raised my hoody that I was wearing, the gentelman just said, your good, enjoy the game.
