How Much Do You Dry Fire?

I combine dry-fire & speedloader practice, at least weekly. Six rounds of spent aluminum "brass" (or five in my J-frame), dry-fire, eject, speedload snap caps, dry-fire again.

If one wants to be proficiant, even for CC, should practice dryfiring every day. Practice draws.. weak hand reloads, weak hand firing. Movement.. slicing the pie. Etc. If your brain already knows what to do ahead of time, in the time of need, you will not freeze up..

Ok...so im getting some conflicting responses here...I have a Taurus PT 24/7 Pro 9mm...its ok to dry fire without worrying about damage...or not? I got the pistol mid Feb and ive put a good 1200 rounds through it...love the pistol...just want to be sure dry firing is ok.

It's the firing pin that "could" break, right?

I've never understood how dry firing could put more pressure on anything in the chamber than thousands of live rounds going off.

Firing pin and or slide, even the Glock perfection has issues

Not my gun nor do I believe it is a wide spread issue. I dry fire my Glocks without worry.

Smallbore firearms is a different story.. you can damage the firing pin in those. There are few that are designed to dryfire.. like the Kimber .22 rifles.
