 My fav is this one.

"HB 1769 was filed by Rep. Bruce Griffey.  This bill, which was reported in the media as the "Kyle [Rittenhouse] law" would provide a means for someone acquitted on criminal charges because of self-defense to potentially recover their attorney's fees or costs from the state."

Tort Reform isn't dead? Most all industrialized Nations have laws like this for most any legal litigation. Except here. Before Pharma became the biggest DC sugar daddy, it was the BAR Ass. God forbid the little guy cut them out of another filling for cost damages due to a bad lawsuit.  At very least my dues are pointed in the right direction with inspired bills like these all though it should be extended to civil cases as the rest of the modern world has it. More money is pee-ed away on litigation in the US than any other nation by a pretty fair chunk.

There is another bill coming similar to Griffey's which I understand has more reach and addresses the entirety of the issue, not just cost.  It will follow on the heels of the Civil Immunity passed last year.

And ALL the political police chiefs & sheriffs (Shelby, Davidson, Knox & Hamilton counties) will be baying their opposition to this.

They have about every smidgen of Rights returned to the People, since 1871.  Don't forget the Sheriff's Association.

Are the gun groups in TN working towards enhancing the TN enhanced permit like the Mississippi enhanced permit which allows legal college campus carry?  The MS enhanced even allows legal K-12 school carry.  Of course the sign issue would need to be fixed in TN too for that to work which the MS enhanced permit fixed.

MS enhanced and TN enhanced permit classes are similar 8 hour classes with firing range requirement.

That would seem to bring more benefit than lowering the permit age from 21 to 18.

There is a group that is working to achieve that goal, and, there is specific legislation that would do just that.  Finding a sponsor in the senate is very difficult, but the ask has been made.

The chief's & sheriff's DO like their power & don't wish to lose even a fraction of it, IMO. I also note it seems to be almost always the urban ones, not the rural areas.

I also remember their outcry when the permit system was changed from "may issue" to "shall issue". Ditto for when full auto knives were legalized. One would've thought the world was coming to an end with the way they carried on.

There's been multiple political chief's who said they'd remove ALL guns if given the opportunity. One was a former Memphis chief, IIRC? He may even be still in office?
