New Refugee in Blount County

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi. Recently escaped from MA and landed in Blount county. Currently renting until we can :hopefully: find a home with some land.

Any recommendations for a local shop and public shooting range / land?

Thank you!

Howdy neighbor. The only range in town is Gunnys. It's functional but not much to look at.  Otherwise there's the John Sevier range or Point Blank in Knoxville.  Bud's in Sevierville is nice but about an hours drive.

Good luck on your property search, we'd love to find a few acres but the market is insane here.

Thank you for the info. I'll have to check these places out. Do you know if any of the ranges have outdoor steel target or allow you to bring your own? I got spoiled shooting steel back home and now shooting paper inside has has kind of lost the thrill if you know what I  mean.

The only place I can think of that might allow steel is ORSA.

Gatlinburg Sportsman's Club has a pretty nice steel pistol range set up.

Don't know if you meant rifle or pistol.  If rifle, ORSA would be the place to go.

Both are membership ranges.  However, Gatlinburg may allow a visitor.  You should contact them via email for a look see:  gatsport@live.com

PM me if any other questions.

btw, I belong to both.

ORSA is large and the creme de la creme of shooting venues, it has EVERYTHING.

Gatlinburg is much smaller and the road up the hill is all gravel.  While small the club has a plucky "can do" attitude.

Very grateful to have both of them available to me.  Great people at both of them.

There's Chilhowee Sportsman's Club also, they have an outdoor pistol range not sure if you can shoot steel plates.

Welcome to Tennessee

Didn't know they'd added a pistol range. Nice sporting clays area.

I second ORSA...really excellent range(s) and very well taken care of.  They have a centerfire range that you can reset from the bench so no one has to go through the whole cold range thing.

Gun shops:

Bill's Outpost Maryville/Alcoa

Gunny's in Maryville (has a smaller indoor range downstairs)

Rural King Maryville/Alcoa

Buds Gunshop in Sevierville

Smoky Mountain Guns and Ammo inside the knifeworks also in Sevierville (next to Buds)

JFloyds in Sevierville (havent been in a long time)

Welcome to TN!
