It’s gonna be a tough row to hoe to gain market share.

Might could be farmer Chuck but with S&W premiering it in an M&P EZ model it might very well be targeted at the new gun owner crowd.  Then again, the regular gun crowd whose amazement for new never seems to end might latch on to it.

Curious to see how this goes.

There's been quite a bit of discussion on other forums about this. The main question seems to be why? Why another caliber? Why now, when common ammo is so hard to find? What were they thinking?  Nobody seems to know.  ❓

Formal introduction and much more info is expected to take place at the Shot Show in just a couple of weeks.

t looks like a .32 ACP on steroids

Same to me. But I also think the .32acp is a vastly underrated cartridge.

Speculation so far is that its designed for the currently popular small or pocket sized pistols. Apparently you can squeeze one or two more rounds into the same size magazine as a 9mm.  I guess everything is about capacity these days. 🙄

My real interest is how's the recoil? If its more comfortable to shoot than a standard 9mm or a blowback .380, I can see a market with women, elderly or disabled people.  Here a higher preforming cartridge with lower felt recoil would be very popular.

If the cartridge proves to be decent, I can see it being readily adaptable in most any existing .380 or .32 firearms such as the Walther PP Series. Personally, I'd like to see it in something like the Colt Government .380/Mustang or Browning 1911-380.

Awesome! Another caliber we won’t be able to find in stock.

Why not chamber pistols in 7.62x25? That is a pretty cool round.

😂 You go on away from here @gregintenn

Kudos to the ole American consumer marketing wank trick.  The toys are us and we don’t even know.

Zero punches pulled here by Ryan Cleckner.

“As if I haven’t already made enough bold statements, here’s another:

I feel so strongly that the 30 Super Carry is a bad idea that I’m going to use it as a measuring stick to see who in our industry is being paid for their opinions.

Of course, people can disagree with me. However, absent a compelling counter-argument to each of my issues with this new round above, I am going to assume that anyone who calls this “ground-breaking” or the “best new self defense round” is a shill and is getting paid to pretend like they like the round.

This is a problem for me – your life may depend on an opinion that you didn’t realize was a commercial.

Keep an eye out for me and see if I’m right.”

I'd like to see actual dimensions on it and how it physically compares to the .32 acp and other cartridges.

As a fan of the 32 acp, I can see some interest. Not saying I carry a 32 fulltime, but occassionaly I will slide one into a pocket.

But I question it. Could be used in 9mm mags? What about the barrel? Need a new one I'd think. So a conversion kit someday? Or just a new gun?

Lots to have answered, but sort of intrigued by it. Makes me wish I'd kept my Kel-tec.

Well, by being so vocally opposed to it before its even released,  he's certainly drawing attention to himself.  There's no such thing as bad publicity.  So who's the shill here? 🙄

For me, the make or break issue is going to be recoil. I small. pocket sized gun with close to 9mm performance but easy to manage recoil would be an absolute winner.  But if the recoil is sharp, snappy or nasty, it'll never fly.

This sentence is absolutely absurd.

Cleck has been around a long time and earned a reputation.  He isn't "buying followers" by opposing something that 95% of this thread has also opposed.

I dunno about this thing. It feels like an answer to a problem no one asked. Capacity is king these days, so I get the logic, but was another new cartridge necessary? Who am I to say? I thought the .327 Federal Mag was needless, but it seems to have hung on, and I even catch myself eying one every once and a while. For the .327 it makes sense, 6 rounds in a small revolver that otherwise holds 5. In that sense, 6 is a lot more than 5, but in the case of the 30 SC is 12 really a lot more than 10?  Where it might get interesting for me is if they can cram 15 rounds in a standard sized Hellcat or P365. That would be a meaningful jump.

I had similar thoughts to Grayfox.   Passing judgement on a firearm/ammo until you've had a chance to test isn't beneficial.

You may be right. But it will be the public that decides if the 30SC will be successful. Not some internet gun writer with  preconceived notions.

It will be DOA if ammo isn’t available.

Seriously, What was wrong with the 7.62x25?

Nothing really. But it is a bottleneck cartridge so getting more into a similar size magazine won't work. My own pet peeve against the 7.62X25 is that sucker is LOUD!. I just don't care for shooting it. 🙄

Great!  It's a return to the 7.65x20mm French Longue!  Also known as the .30 Pedersen.  Just a little bit hotter.

Not quite, but close maybe.  Bullet is .312”.
