If Ruger was smart they’d start cranking out Marlin.357’s.  Marlin had just retooled for those and started delivering again after years of substandard production and low availability.

Surely, I’m not the only one that sees a great demand for those and would actually like to walk into a gun store and buy one at a reasonable price.

Ruger is pretty good at making things at a reasonable price, so it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility.

If I can get the SBL laminated stock 45/70 for a reasonable price. the last one I tracked on GB went over $3700.

I'm looking at mid level take down in 357 lever. Chiappa is in the running. But a Marlin would be good!

I disagree.  The past year or so they've climbed into the price ranges of what a would consider a superior fit and finish.  They are no longer the "reasonably" priced alternative.

I was fortunate enough to track down a Marlin Dark 45/70 late last year, after looking for one ever since they released them in 2019. The last two times I’ve taken it to the range I’ve had guys offer more than double what I paid for it. Henry also released a dark line, though I don’t like the look and feel of it quite as much. I’ve been watching several YouTube videos this week about the Ruger/Marlin SBL 45/70s that are already in the hands of the community influencers and it sounds like they are pretty nice. I’ve always had a think for the Chiappas as well, but they are REALLY proud of them.

Jus' my 2 cents worth, but if you are going to pay north of $1,300.00 for a Marlin 45-70, I would look for the Pedersoli version of the 1886

Love me some Pedersoli's.  They make some nice .45-70's.

Suggested retail on the SBL is $1399. So prices are just gonna continue to climb.

45-70 is a fun round to shoot. Like 45 colt only a heavier push.
