Wow! Awesome IWB... AND Affordable!!!

been wearing a new IWB for a couple days now, that hands down is the best IWB i've ever owned... (i've tried mtac's, ctac's, crossbreed's, galco's, highnoons, cheap uncle mike's, blade-tech's, etc.).

what's crazy is that this is one of the cheapest, and fastest delivered holsters i've ever gotten also! the quality is stellar!

i got it off ebay, for less than $50.00 including shipping... it's an AKJ Concealco "value-line ambi IWB".

i couldn't find a bad word at all concerning AKJ concealco www.greatholsters.com (in fact, only high praise), so, even knowing the wife would be pissed (she doesn't understand the hundreds of dollars that have gone into the quest for finding good holsters... not sure any of us do though?), i decided to grab one anyway... even their more expensive models on their site are very reasonably priced... but figured i'd get this one to "test the waters".

great product, great people (nice husband and wife operation), i'd highly recommend them!

can't believe they can offer such a great holster at their price. custom fitted to your gun, comfy as hell, AND the elusive (excepting kydex) one-handed re-holstering!

Yeah, I saw those myself.

If they only had leather extended on backside to cover slide, I might have gotten one as a backup.

I don't wear undershirts, and definitely don't want the slide against my skin.

they have a skin guard option on their site for like 10 bucks more... while this style works well for me since not much metel from my EDC touches my skin, i might have to get one for the summer. it'll still be cheaper than just about any off the shelf galco, sparks or the like.

WOW is that a Steyr????

I thought I was the only one.....

yeah, there are a few of us around here!

...it's funny, most have no idea how good they are... most have never even seen or handled one... but probably the 2 best shooters doing idpa near me have both introduced themselves when they spotted mine on me, and both commented how they shot thousands and thousands of rounds through their steyr's, consistently finishing near the top of national matches with them for a long long time... incidentally, both are now shooting m&p's do to the ease of trigger tuning for competition, but, both said if they were going to use a "stock" pistol it would still be a steyr! ...great minds think alike!

gotta post a copy of this on steyrclub, since the pistol's only real drawback is finding holsters for it, some are as good, none are better, at $350! nothing is even close. cheers!

Funny I'm looking at a M&P 9c for EDC myself... Just because I like the feel in my hand and the fact I can get a 4 pound trigger over the 8.5 of the Steyr....

So you spend any time at SteyrClub.com????

Just reread your post so I guess you do

WOW! 8.5lb steyr trigger? really... sounds like yours may not be right... i have 2 m9-a1's and a m40-a1 and they all have a super crisp, no slop, 5lb or below triggers, best "safe action-type" trigger out there imho.

you could try bending the #13 spring's angle back (to relieve some tension, actually pretty easy...), you can take that spring tension back quite a bit before the pistol won't reset correctly (if you go to far, just bend it back towards how it was and the action resets correctly and you'll end up around 4.5-5lbs...).

i spend some time at steyrclub (ckone), that's the best source on the steyr pistols... the trigger lightening trick i'm talking about comes from the "big taco trigger tune-up tutorial" on the left-hand side of the forum homepage.

The only thing I see with that design that I don't like is the fact that the leather belt loops are folded back over themselves. Leather is rugged, but it will eventually wear through at stress points like that.

Otherwise, nice rig.

you are correct sir. they offer replacement loops in different sizes and colors for $8 on their site... i ordered a back-up set in black, and a set in brown a bit smaller to match another belt i have.

i'm only really worried about wear on the front loop though, so it's kinda like i've got 2 back up's in black, the rear loop shows no wear.

incidentally, i should post a review of my new belts, it's taken a long time, but i think i found the best ccw belts out there: 5.11 Tactical Casual Belts... finally a good gunbelt that doesn't scream "GUNBELT!", reasonably priced too. anyone looking for a good belt should check 'em out.

cool.

not to second guess... but, the first time i bent the spring i didn't realize i was being a knucklehead and actually increasing the tension (bending clockwise, not unwinding counter-clockwise), just sayin', just incase.

the pull didn't lower until i went the opposite way (unwinding the spring counter-clockwise). cheers fellow steyroid.

I made a holster yesterday using it for the mold so I will have to clean it....I will tear it apart and give it a look. I can't remember what way I bent the spring :screwy:
