My understanding is that you would be able to carry a long gun in a vehicle loaded. Not just mags.

I understand it that I can now mount a pistol grip shotty on my Harley and live out my dream of being a renegade bounty hunter.

Please explain how this is bad?

If you haven't already, you can read the text here by following the link toward the bottom:

Why is a police officers body worth more than mine? This law could have some seriously bad interpretation in our courts.

Well based on the fiscal note of the bill, I can see why the Chairman said, "Good Luck in the Finance committee."

Yeah. I'm not much on poison pills or greasy riders. In my ideal little world, our state government would have more equity than to suggest that one man's blood is worth more than another's simply based on his vocation.

Would the amendment allow carry in local parks by default and local goverment would have to vote and/or post against it or does it leave it against the law by default and local goverments would have to vote and/or post to allow it?

That is my take on it. The state will allow it but localities may voe to post their property. But they got hung up on who has the say if the property is jointly operated.

I am going to watch another judiciary committee meeting here in a few minutes to see if:

HB1395 by *Evans. (SB1724 by *Bunch.)

Firearms and Ammunition - As introduced, prohibits employers from prohibiting persons possessing a handgun carry permit from transporting and storing a firearm out of sight in a locked vehicle on any property set aside for vehicles. - Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 13.

Passes.

quick stupid question, the restaurant carry bill along with others, so they passed sub and judiciary, is the next step senate and if it goes through that then becomes law?

Then it goes to scheduling then to the house floor for a vote then passed to the senate for a vote if it passes all the way it will become law.

Well yes and no. There are actually two bills, one in the House and one in the Senate. They are paired together. The house bill that passed today will go to the Calendar committee where they will choose a date to place it on the agenda for the full house for a vote. If (I mean when...) it passes there, there will probably be action on the senate bill. The senate is smaller than the house and bills move much more quickly. But after the senate bill passes it would go to the Governor for his signature.

Most bills become law on July 1...only a very few go into effect immediately

Here is a more detailed explanation.
