Thing is, Nashville has the same issues just not as bad yet.

Most of Nashville's issues are either drug-related or certain areas of the city or both. Remove the crime stats from all of the housing projects & areas of Antioch & the stats look minimal.

Sounds like most cities.

Most of Memphis’ issues are either drug-related or certain areas of the city or both.  Remove the crime stats from all of the housing projects & areas of low income & the stats look minimal.

Could be. However, Memphis' crime RATE is much, much higher than Nashville's.

As a white guy, I can walk anywhere in Nashville w/o being bothered or scared. Anywhere. In Memphis? Not so much.

You don’t know anything about Memphis.

As a white guy, I can, and HAVE walked ALL OVER Memphis without being bothered or scared.  I used to regularly travel to Orange Mound and do mobile mechanic work with a toolbox full of valuable tools in my car.  And that was before I started carrying.

As Garufa said, you have no understanding of Memphis outside of the typical state narrative.

Would you like to get into the nuts and bolts of the things that make Memphis crime stats look so bad?  I’m not saying that there isn’t a problem here or that it’s some kind of safe Utopia.  I just want you to understand that you don’t know this area like the people that live here and walk this walk every day.

Don’t waste your time. It’s not worth it.  Once these East TN people get a notion in their head there’s no changing it.

I fail to see how this thread brings any value to this community.

What does it do for the whole of the community for one group to point at another and tell them they suck?

Memphis doesn’t need me to defend it - and I’m sure our members who live there are fine with the rest of y’all staying home.

But, I just don’t get it.

Thanks. I was active in a manner that I felt was maybe appearing a bit too biased so I didn’t lock it myself.
