Case Failure on Remington .22lr

Saturday this happened while shooting the "Oh so very cheap, 525 rounds of Remington .22lr for $19.99".

This particular "Oh crap" happened while a friend of mine was shooting my Ruger 1965 standard model 22 pistol. I wasn't for sure what happened at that moment, I kind of thought that a bullet was fed onto the top of another one somehow, but after running a rod down the barrel Sunday, this empty case came on out. (It appeared to be very forcably lodged in the chamber, but came out with the slightest bump of the cleaning rod.)

Firing out of battery.

Make sure the bolt is all the way forward, and the casing is seated properly.

I do believe that is the first case failure on a .22 that I have ever seen.

Looks like an out-of-battery to me, too. Just about any case will fail if it isn't completely in the chamber when it is fired. That is the issue with Glock Kabooms - the case is not completely surrounded (supported) when in battery.

I'd guess dirty pistol or slightly long case was the culprit.

Been there, done that. I thought it was a remington case failure, but it was Walther's sorry POS G22 fired out of battery. Sent me to the ER. My case looked just like that.
