Volunteers Needed: Memphis Gun Show, July 28-29

All:

There will be a gun show at the Pipkin Building at the Midsouth Fairgrounds on July 28 and 29. If you live in Memphis or the surrounding area, please consider volunteering to work a shift at the NRA table.

My opinion is that the NRA needs to have a presence at any gun show in order to recruit new NRA members, distribute information about local Friends of NRA events, and sell tickets to those Friends events. Needless to say, the presence is made possible only by volunteers like you and me.

Saturday shifts are from 9 am to 1 pm and from 1 pm to 5 pm.

Sunday shifts are from 10 am to 1 pm and from 1 pm to 4 pm.

Please help us if you're able. And, conversely, everyone who wishes to help will certainly be given the opportunity to help.

Thanks in advance.

I am just curious if this is going to be the same type of show that it normally is with more Army Surplus material, beef jerky etc than guns. Last time I went, the only good that came of it was a $3 knife sharpening.

Dave, when are we going to get a presence up this way in east tn??? I'd volunteer if it were closer!

Good question. I've worked gun shows for other organizations. I'd be glad to help if NRA set up a booth at our local shows.

Count me in as well!!

I know Julie would be happy to do so as well. We had a discussion about her scheduling and she will be moving days around so that she can start coming to the TGO shoots on the 3rd sat. of every month.

Brian, I'd like to say No, that this one is different, but it will probably be more of the same. Many of us feel the way you do, so we'll see.

Towerclimber, Marswolf, let me send a heads up about your interest and we'll see what happens.

I got another volunteer last night off the Memphis IDPA email, so I'm down to the two afternoon shifts. Those shifts are anchored already with one volunteer, just need a second person to volunteer to fully staff the table and help the first.

Thanks.

All:

We are in the home stretch of staffing the NRA table at the gun show this weekend.

Another volunteer stepped up to the plate this afternoon. We're only one slot away from being fully staffed at two people per shift, two shifts a day, for two days.

So, I need one last volunteer from the rest of you on this list to choose either Sat. afternoon, 1-5, or Sunday afternoon, 1-4. You choose your slot, and I'll put today's earlier volunteer in the other slot. Then we'll be fully staffed.

Thanks for your consideration.

I would love to volunteer but unfortunately I have to work that weekend.

As for more of the same, most likely. At least at the last two shows there was a C3 dealer selling silencers and AOWs - thats a small step up, but still a step.
