For what it's worth, max chamber pressure on the 44 special is 15, 500 psi. Max chamber pressure on the 44 magnum is 36,000 psi. Both are SAAMI numbers.

If I was gonna buy a big bore revolver, I would get a large frame .45 Colt instead of a .44 Magnum. There's a thing called reloading that is good. If ya'll ain't checked it out already. Look up Linebaugh's loads for specially built .45 Colt revolvers.

I dearly love the .44 Special. Honestly, I never really cared for the .44 magnum. Too much buck and roar for my tastes. 🙄

Quavodus makes a very good point. The .45 Colt is an outstanding round as well. Most people don't realize that a standard velocity 250gr .45 Colt bullet will go completely through your average whitetail. There's no need to hot rod this fine old  round. 😉

Just tried it. 44 Specials run through mine like corn through a goose. Thanks for the idea. Makes it even more fun to shoot.

What is yours doing, exactly?

Mine is jamming because the next bullet slides out too far and hangs up the carrier lift.

But it feeds 44 mag fine. Hmm. I’ll have to defer to someone more knowledgeable than me.

Best guess. 🤔 The cartridge stop isn't engaging soon enough on the shorter Specials. Thus allowing the next round to follow it onto the lifter. Afraid I'm not familiar with the Marlin action and don't know how to correct this.

My Winchester .44 and .357 Magnums both feed Specials just fine. I'm guessing you Marlin just needs a bit of adjustment.

This is why large hammers were invented................................  😝
