Rifle range

I am going to start a business in the Hendersonville/Gallatin area which will include a 10 lane, 25yd indoor range that can handle pistols and rifles. Just looking for input on what people think about this idea and if it would be utilized. My timeline is not set at this time for opening date.

I'll be there . . .

Please also have a place where you may shoot a shotgun . . . no ranges that I know of have that option at ALL.

Being able to shoot shotgun will depend on the type of bullet trap I decide to purchase.... but having that capability has crossed my mind.

Not to try to dissuade you at all, but there's already a 25 yard, indoor range in Gallatin. I'm not sure if they allow rifles, though. It's in the same building as a pawn shop, right next to the police station on South Water.

You said your business would include a range, I take it that isn't the main focus? Perhaps a gun shop? I have to say, I'd love to have a good gun store in Gallatin. I like going to Guns & Leather, Goodlettsville Guns, etc, but it would be nice to have a gun store closer to home.

I'm always looking for a range that's closer to the Hendersonville area.

Yes, I will surely be a frequent visiter of yours, but I sure would love an outdoor range closer to me. 100+ years would be ideal. I had my fingers crossed for becoming a member at GGC, but I never heard anything from them. I guess I didn't make the cut.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

So you'd be shooting a rifle that somehow bridged the time-space continuum? Unless you meant yards...

Yeah, that range over in Gallatin....odd little place. Made me not so comfortable. I too frequent Guns and Leather, but they have been getting so crowded (good for them, bad for me) that a place to shoot closer to home would be fantastic.

I do think G&L set the bar pretty high for an indoor range, they keep it clean and operable. I hate feeling like I am shooting in someones old storage shed, or I am in the backroom of some illegitimate business.

Do it. I'd be there in a heartbeat. Wish I had the initative to start one, but I'm lazy and super busy to boot.

I wish you all the luck in the world. Now, the fella I inistruct for had a heck of a time getting Sumner county to allow his PRIVATE range, the claimed that the pawn shop range and Gallatin Gun Club were there first and "they were trying to protect existing businesses" of some such BS

Took him forever to get it through all the red tape.

Be prepared for a fight against you...but stay the course. "Build it and they will come"

I know I will there a few weekends a month. Bring it on.

Sumner Co. can use another range, for sure, if you can work through the politics. I'm usually through there a couple times a week on work, and I'd sure like another, more modern and well-equipped option than the pawn shop range. Nice folks, but range looks like it was built in 1955.

I have dreamed of building a World Class Indoor/Outdoor range in this area.

The problems I thought I would have with an indoor range would be Zoning, Insurance, OSHA, and EPA. In this day and age I think those are the areas I would want answers about first. I assume that is why our local indoor range has to charge over $20 a person to shoot.

I am more into rifles and I think a Long Distance rifle range would be a great draw if the cost to shoot could be kept down.

I don’t think I would want to try anything in the city.

Stones River has a place to shoot shotguns, they just don't advertise it. It's an improvised thing, and hasn't been there very long. I would call before heading that way.

That, and the big targets required for patterning
