From your description it have appears to be a 1943 vintage and by serial # should have the ladder sight, straight grip stock (without finger groves). The barrel is a replacement is probably a 2 grove type and may either have been installed as a field replacement, during rebuild or at some point over the last 65 years.

The quickest way to tell if it's been rearsenaled, provided the stock is original, is to look on the left side just opposite the bolt. There should be two ordnance cartouches. "FJA" in a square box and to the left of that Crossed Cannons. A third or forth cartouche will indicate who/where it was rebuilt.

There are over 30 other points to go over with this particular rifle to determine the degree of originality remaining. If you would like, PM me and well go over them.
